egg sandwiches

For years I've bought Praise Traditional mayonnaise for my family.
For a reasonable cost, I got a reasonable amount of mayo.
I'd never really considered trying anything else.
Praise is smooth, creamy, bland.
Entirely suitable for kids who like to slather mayonnaise on practically everything.

But last week, I thought I'd try something different.
I'd seen this "Thomy" mayonnaise coming through the checkout often last year, when I was still working on the checkout.
With so many people buying it, maybe it was worth a try.

So I stood in aisle two, reading the label, while people manouvered their trolleys around me.
Look what I discovered.
It's made in Germany.
Just like me!

And....it contains mustard.
Well, a little spice is always nice, so I bought it.
The minute I got home, I opened the jar and sniffed at the mayo. As you do.

Oh yum!
I wanted to grab a spoon and dig in. This smells really nice.

I restrained myself and got the hard-boiled eggs out of the fridge.

And used a spoonful of the new mayo to mash them for sandwiches.

See? Mashed eggs, ready for spreading.

On sandwiches, just like these.
Yes, it's white bread. Don't judge me.

And you'll notice there's no lettuce on these sandwiches.
Why?
Because I forgot to buy some.

The sandwich was still yummy.

  3. Some sandwiches MUST only be had on white bread! Peanut Butter is one. Egg is another!! But my question is the same as Andrew's - where's the curry powder?!?!

Have a great weekend (what's left of it!)

  5. drb; now I wish I'd tried it long ago.

Toni; that's what I said. With every bite.

Andrew; this was my first tasting of the Thomy, so I didn't add anyhting else that might mask the taste. I will eventually do curried egg.

Red Nomad OZ; Ham and tomato is also better on white bread.

Kath; Buy the Thomy and be pleasantly surprised.

  6. Hey, what a good idea, mayonnaise with chopped egg, I'll give it a go.
I'm not a racist, some of my best friends eat brown bread.

  7. R.H. Have you never had egg and mayo? Are you one of those people who mash the egg with a little butter and milk? Or do you never mashed the egg?

  8. I usually buy Golden Soy Mayonnaise but I couldn't find it anywhere so I tried this because of the mustard and it is so nice.

  9. I chop up a boiled egg then mix it with curry and make a sandwich.
    Here's the mash:
I was working in the lab late one night
When my eyes beheld an eerie sight
As Miss Jahteh from a slab began to rise
    Saying down to Routleys Boris
    Two dozen mince pies!
