safe on the other side

Well, here we are, safely on the other side of Christmas.
The hustle and bustle, the frantic rush to get presents bought and wrapped, (not to mention hidden),
The planning, the cooking, the general partying....it's all over for another year.
No burnt turkeys, I hope....
(New Years Eve? Not as stressful, I'm sure)

I hope all of you had a great day with family and/or friends, maybe alone if that what you chose.

I spent Christmas Eve day with family and had a great time watching dvds and eating ham rolls, then had some yummy homemade icecream, before catching a bus and coming home again.
The day was quite warm, (I'd call it hot, but that's just me), so Christmas morning I woke up with a crashing headache, took some panadol and went back to sleep. I hate summer heat.

Anyway, I woke up to a cooler afternoon, with the promise of rain later, trawled around the internet for a while, gazed at my christmas tree, in my mind hearing the giggles and voices of my kids when they were very young and discovering gifts left there for them.

I hope the day was peaceful for all of you, no family feuds rearing their ugly heads, and as always, I hope nobody lost anyone in any tragic accident.

I'm looking forward to reading many blogs telling of wonderful Christmas days.

  2. You came home on a bus? Couldn't one of them give you a lift?

  3. RH: Neither of us drive. The only way to give her a lift would have been carrying her.

  4. Giggling a little at the thought of River being carried home -- people would have thought you were drunk!!

  5. It was very hot! It's a pity you had to catch a bus. I would make sure I drove my family anywhere they needed to go.

I'm tired and glad it's over but had a wonderful day. Nobody died and there was some slight snarkiness from my Mum. All normal:)

  6. Christmas Day was the worst ever because we had thunderstorms and hailstones the size of golf balls that broke the skylight in the dining room water everywhere :-(.

  7. Send her in a cab then, cough up the fare, what's the matter with you?

  8. Nice that you had time to sit and reflect on christmas day, especially it being cooler.

  9. Christmas has a large C, unlike old queen in a cowboy hat molly meldrum. He'll be needing a crash helmet from here on.

  10. Delores; the headache was gone soon after I woke up the second time, because I took some antihistamine before going back to sleep. it was a hayfever thing.

R.H. I always travel by bus, it's cheap andnobody has to worry about parking.

no-one; that would have been a long, long walk.

Toni; I had quite a giggle at that myself.

Sarah; these two don't drive, but the bus was airconditioned and I enjoy the ride.

Windsmoke; such a shame about your skylight! Did you get the mess cleaned up easily enough?

R.H a cab at this time of year has a longer wait time than waiting for a bus and getting home. Really, a bus is no trouble, we do it all the time! Next year they'll come to my place. By bus.

Andrew, Christmas day was great! Cooler and so peaceful.

R.H. poor Molly, I hope he recovers completely.

  11. Glad you had a great day, and are able to enjoy previous days all over again. And yes, once all the leftovers are gone things will be back to normal.

Windsmoke: a timely reminder for more fortunate ones like me that I should get off my butt and look into what my insurance covers. Hope you don't have too much water damage to deal with.

  12. It's been a great year for me... nothing real special it's just that I have my loved ones around me and lifes pretty good...what more could I ask

  13. FruitCake; there's no leftovers this time. Not at my house anyway, I think there's a turkey wing or two left at no-one's. We usually only cook just enough for the people who will be there.

Tempo; like me, friends and family, what more does one need?
