Sunday Selections #107

Welcome back to Sunday Selections!

This once-a- week-meme was originally begun by Kim of Frog Ponds Rock, as a way to showcase some of the many photos we all take, but don't get around to showing on our blogs.

The rules are very simple:-
1. post photos of your choice, old or new, under the Sunday Selections title
2. link back to me, River, somewhere in your post
3. leave me a comment so that I know you've joined in and can come over and see what you've posted.

And you can hop on over to The Elephant's Child to see if she has put up a Sunday Selections this week.

This week I'm showing you the foam heads I bought to display my hats when I'm not wearing them.

The cheap-as-chips foam heads.

I bought these online and thought I would have room on this bookshelf for three heads, but they were just a little larger than I thought.

So head number three is way up high on top of the TV unit.

I pushed a pair of my earrings into head number two.
I think she looks rather elegant with them.

Comments

  1. I wore (and wore out) hats when I was selling at outdoor fairs in the summer. I could have that linnen number in a minute!

  2. They look good as ornaments, mysterious. Not so good close up, obviously foam, plaster would do the trick.

  3. Painting them would be a bit of fun. I was going to do a Sunday Selections, but I have run out of time.

  4. How stylish, how elegant, how brilliant. Thank you. And I am playing this week.

  5. A fantastic idea and foam or plaster...does it matter? Love the earrings...and the hats too.

  6. These are neat. Kinda the cat's meow.

  7. I thought straight away of Warhol, then Dali, and then of Auschwitz. But that's a bit heavy here (among recipes).

  8. Joanne Noragon; that's my everyday hat. I love it because I can roll it up and stuff it in my bag or locker and the brim is nice and wide to keep the sun off my face.

R.H. I wanted glass ones but couldn't find any. Probably couldn't afford glass anyway. These were super cheap.

Andrew; I'm not good at painting things like that. I did think about glueing on strips of false eyelashes, but decided not to in the end.

Elephant's Child; I wasn't sure if you'd play this week with everything you have going on there. They do look stylish.

Mimsie; the foam turned out to be the best option, because they were delivered all in one box which would have been too heavy to get home on the bus if they'd been plaster and I wouldn't have been able to push earrings into them.

Manzanita; they are neat, I really like them. I tried a different pair of earrings in the cotton sunhat head, but she just didn't look right. I'll get her a pair of cheap sunglasses and see how they look.

R.H. I don't understand the connection. Warhol? Dali?

  9. Cute! Love the hat on the left in the first photo. I'm also participating in Sunday Selections today (or will be as soon as I finish it)

  10. Look them up on Giggle.
The nice thing about art is anyone can say they're an artist, no one can say they ain't.

  11. And I was wrong, foam is the medium, angel is the message.

  12. Kath Lockett; that's my favourite cotton sunhat. $5 at Coles about four years ago. I can roll it up small and stuff it anywhere, so it is always with me, then toss it into the washing machine on weekends.

    R.H. ah! artists.
