Sunday Selections # 131

Welcome back to Sunday Selections!

This once-a- week-meme was originally begun by Kim of Frog Ponds Rock, as a way to showcase some of the many photos we all take, but don't get around to showing on our blogs.

The rules are very simple:-
1. post photos of your choice, old or new, under the Sunday Selections title
2. link back to me, River, somewhere in your post
3. leave me a comment so that I know you've joined in and can come over and see what you've posted.
4. hop on over to The Elephant’s Child to see more of her wonderful photos.

Kath and Andrew often join in as well.

I usually go with a theme for my Sunday Selections and this week I'm continuing with some photos of the beaches and coastline of Rottnest Island.

white sandy beach, craggy rocks, beautiful blue water

so many shades of blue

a little further left of that first photo, it looks quite different.

cliffs, whitecaps and rock pools

footprints in the sand

same footprints a bit further along.

I love this window to the water

looking along the coastline

more coastline

see that sticks construction out on the rock?
that's an osprey nest.
the nests are usually a couple of feet tall, very sturdy and the ospreys use the same nest each year I believe.

  5. Your photos just reminded me of one place I would love to visit and that's Kangaroo Island. I've been seeing ads for it in all the papers and they apparently have a terrific hotel there.

  6. JahTeh; that's another place I have not been to yet. I'd love to go, but I think in the summer. I'd have to research accommodation charges as well as the bus to wherever the ferry takes off from. Then start serious saving. I could fly over, but I want the ferry experience.

  7. Yes I would like Kangaroo Island as well. Why do people go to filthy Bali when AUS is so fab?

Love the photos - Look! sunshine!

  8. A beautiful place--having been raised in the land of sandy beaches, I do find myself drawn to rocky shorelines.

  10. The nest looks so vulnerable yet I am sure the birds know what they are doing. Great photos.

  12. Ann O'Dyne; I would never go to Bali, I've heard stories from people who have been there.

sage; I love rocky shore lines when the sea is stormy and the waves crashing just as much as when it is calm. Combined with sandy stretches like on Rottnest is perfection.

Mimsie; I have more photos of Rottnest, but I'll move on next week to a different location.

Andrew; There were other nests less exposed, but we were told the nests are very sturdy and last for many years.

  13. Having been drooling in a very ladylike way over Elephant's Child's lovely photographs on her blog thought it was about time to hop over here. Would love to join in on a Sunday as have lots of pictures hidden away. Thank you and for the malt extract later post!
