Sunday Selections # 132

Welcome back to Sunday Selections!

This once-a- week-meme was originally begun by Kim of Frog Ponds Rock, as a way to showcase some of the many photos we all take, but don't get around to showing on our blogs.

The rules are very simple:-
1. post photos of your choice, old or new, under the Sunday Selections title
2. link back to me, River, somewhere in your post
3. leave me a comment so that I know you've joined in and can come over and see what you've posted.
4. hop on over to The Elephant’s Child to see more of her wonderful photos.

Kath and Andrew often join in as well.

I usually go with a theme for my Sunday Selections and this week I'm continuing with some photos of my holiday in the West.

The first few photos were taken somewhere a little south of Hillary's Boat Harbour
I don't remember the exact location of this area, it's the same as where the statue of Bon Scott stands.

I love this bronze woman enjoying her day by the water.

Here she is again.

Bronze fisherman

here he is looking at us. Even the baskets are bronze.

Another bronze fisherman.  nice bum.

side view...

Taken with the sun in my face, causing the rainbow effect.

The next two photos are actually at Hillary's Boat Harbour.

I spotted this Cormorant drying his wings and he very obligingly stayed there while I walked around and took......

...this. It's one of my favourite holiday photos.
Yes, he's real, not a statue.

He caused quite a stir as several small people called to their parents to "come and see this!"

I have to say I think WA does fantastic bronze statues. I saw so many everywhere I went.

  1. Gorgeous statues - and I love that the woman is NOT a size zero.
And the Cormorant photo is a delight - thank you.

  3. That cormorant must have delighted the children. He's big.

  4. Absolutely beautiful bronze work. I love that the woman sunning is a "real" woman and not some size 0 twig.

  5. Great photos!
I agree, that (bronze) woman is beautifully curvaceous :)

  6. Those bronzes are beautiful, and yes, especially the woman. She looks like a real woman with real hips. A refreshing change from most artwork of the female body.

Love that bird, too. He was a real ham, wasn't he?

  7. Thanks for sharing some more beautiful photographs. I am definitely going to have to get out more as I've not seen any of those bronze statues and they are truly amazing, all of them and a real woman too not one of those skinny type models. It is many years since we went up to Hillary's Boat Harbour. I can see that trip being made before the weather heats up again.
That cormorant is a delight (we over here call them shags) and he was so enjoying his moment in the sun.

  8. Elephant's Child; the cormorant was gorgeous, he was perfectly still the whole time and was still there when we walked away. Size zero is a stick figure drawing.

Delores; he is/was beautiful, so glossy. The photo really doesn't do him justice.

Joanne Noragon; he isn't all that big, I zoomed in. Children were delighted when they spotted him.

Letting The Words Escape; welcome back. That's exactly why I took the photo, she looks real.

    Vicki; she's delicious isn't she?

Susan; real bodies are a feast for the eyes. Too skinny gives you nothing to look at, let alone admire.

Mimsie; I hope you do get out to see the statues. I saw so many, in Fremantle, Subiaco, King's Park and of course Hillary's. all places in between too.

    mm; you're welcome.

  9. I don't know River. We are supposed to like modern art, but I find the sculptures of real things just magical.

  10. Hi River, these are great pics... (Except for the Cormorant... feathered Rats..)

  11. Andrew; modern art befuddles me completely. I prefer stuff I can recognise.

Kymbo Whitford; feathered rats? I've never heard that. But he did look a little magnificent with glossy wings spread to dry.

  12. Beautiful photos. What lovely statues! I love the first 4 especially. And the bird is glorious.

  13. Those statues are really something. Especially the one with the basket. WOW... Hope they don't topple over into the water. LOL

  15. Jackie K; welcome to drifting. Thank you, they are fantastic statues, very lifelike. I love the bird.

Manzanita; they are very firmly anchored in the concrete.
