Musical Monday #7

Musical Monday

I was introduced to Musical Monday by Delores who copied the meme from another site.

I think it’s a fun way to show off some of the music we like and brighten up our Mondays at the same time.

I’ll be finding my clips on you tube, so will simply credit that site since there are often so many versions of everything and I wouldn’t want to accidentally credit the wrong artist.

Today’s clip is an Australian artist from the 60s, Johnny O'Keefe.

Johnny O'Keefe, Sing Sing Sing

"sing away your troubles, let's be happy and gay,
let's shout hallelujah, sing those blues away
hey hey hey hey hey
if you feel down hearted, join me in my song
and tell the blues, so long"

  1. If only the blues took the hint that easily...

  2. Boy! That takes my back. My brother and I used to watch "Six O'Clock Rock" without fail!

  3. What a fun idea. The clip wouldn't open for me though. Might have to give this a try. :)

  5. Elephant's Child; I find that listening to happy music does help, but it needs to be more than one song. A couple of dozen at least. True depression is a different matter, I'm not sure what to suggest for that.

Lee; same here. I can't even remember what day it was on, but I now we never missed it because my dad used to like watching the girls dancing.

Life happens; sorry it didn't open, can you go to you tube and hear it?

Merle; I like most of J O'Ks songs, they've got that beat that makes you sing along.

Susan; the 60s were a very cheerful decade, it was a great time to be a kid.

  6. Ah! My sort of music so thank you for sharing and bring back terrific memories. I always enjoyed watching Johnny O'Keefe on Six O'clock Rock and Sing Sing Sing and was saddened when I heard of his death at only 43.
I love all types of music but have always enjoyed rock and roll (not the modern 'stuff' though). I guess Bill Haley helped start it off for me.

  7. Mimsie; 43 is way too young to die, but he left a lot of great music. There's not much modern stuff I enjoy either, I really hate the heavy metal and rap styles.

  8. It was on Saturday evenings, River...on the ABC at 6 pm, of course! :)
