Sunday Selections # 197

Welcome back to Sunday Selections!

This once-a- week-meme was originally begun by Kim of Frog Ponds Rock, as a way to showcase some of the many photos we all take, but don't get around to showing on our blogs.

The rules are very simple:-
1. post photos of your choice, old or new, under the Sunday Selections title
2. link back to me, River, somewhere in your post
3. leave me a comment so that I know you've joined in and can come over and see what you've posted.
4. hop on over to TheElephant’s Child to see more of her wonderful photos.

Andrew, Jacki K and Kakka often join in.

I usually go with a theme for my Sunday Selections and this week I have images of Angel and a bag of Jade cuttings I was taking to a friend.

hey, what's this?

maybe I should jump down, mum's coming

a quick sniff first

what do you mean get out of there? I was just having a look, didn't touch anything.

I'll get over here and pretend I'm not interested

no, I don't like this hidey-hole.

I'll sit here until mum leaves the room, then I'll go back for another look.

ooh! there's something new on the floor!

I won't get too close just yet, wait and see if it is safe.

it's magic! the eyes light up when it gets touched! And there's a faint cheeping sound!

I do like feathers, thanks mum!

Angel doesn't play with this as much as I hoped he would, he loves things with feathers, but only if I dangle them so he can jump up and catch my hand or wrist. It's become yet another toy-on-the-floor to step over and around for me.
He doesn't play much at all with his toys, he's more of a hunter and once he's "caught" them, that's it, he's had enough.
His latest target seems to be my bare ankles in the middle of the night when I get up to see why he is meowing enough to wake me. I refuse to wear rubber boots to bed, so from now on his 1am noise will be ignored.

Comments

  1. He's getting bigger but still just as cute as a button.

  2. Perhaps once he catches your ankles he will give up that hunt as well.

Never had a cat, but from the posts I read, do any two ever have the same personality?

  3. He is such a beautiful boy. Jazz n Jewel don't usually retain interest in 'bought' toys either. The toys they make are much, much better.
That bird is cute though - and would lose its feathers here.

  4. Not rubber boots, but maybe if you taped that toy to your ankle...?

  5. He's such a handsome boy - as beautiful as any cat in the TV commercials, and with that tail, even more handsome.

I love it when cats feign disinterest in something once they've been caught out.

  6. The toy is cute. His lack of interest reminds of when you give a young child a gift and they are more likely to enjoy playing with the box.

  7. I love the look on Angel's face in the fourth pic...he's doing his hardest to look angelic....it's not quite working for him! :)

Remy & Shama have lost interest again in the little toy mice I gave them last Christmas. They showed no interest at all then, but about half way through the year all of a sudden they went mad about them and played with them all the time as if they'd both reverted to being kittens again. But now the interest has worn off again.

I hope you have a lovely week, River. Cuddles to Angel.

  8. If he's like my feral kitty, he wants attention and tries to pull you back. Maybe socks...?

  9. Angel was quite well-behaved with that bag. Our cats can't resist them, so I have to keep them out of their reach. Dot once got her head caught in the handle of one, and flew around the house in such a panic, she ran into the wall. Not good.

But they DO love to play with their toys, too. They have a cardboard box full of them. (Spoiled little buggers!) Just like kids, they leave them strewn all over the house...

  10. Delores; I hope he stops growing soon, when he gets between me and the keyboard I push it back so as not to get cat hair all over it, but then I can't reach it, because he just spreads out like a lake.

joeh; nope. ankles are still fair game, because they keep moving. He lies in wait as I move around the bed tucking in sheets and straightening the quilt. No two cats ever have the same personality, just like people, they're individualists.

Elephant's Child; the bird has lost a couple of feathers now. Angel's current favourite thing is the pool noodle under the fridge edge, he claws it out and wrestles with it until I get the camera, then he disappears quicker than I can focus. cheeky bugger!

fishducky; I think I'd prefer the rubber boots, my ankles have enough claw marks already.

Vicki; he is handsome, but I won't tell him, I don't want him getting a swelled head. He is very good at pretending disinterest.

Andrew; I remember those days. Boxes make the best gifts.

Lee; I see that look on his face a lot so I'm always glancing around to see what he has been getting into.

Joanne; he just likes to attack. Socks and pants legs make no difference at all, except they're easier for him to grab onto.

Susan; probably plant cuttings aren't all that interesting anyway. He only went back to sniff at them twice then lost interest. Angel has very little interest in toys. I have a bagful but they just gathered dust when I left them in a box for him.

  11. I'm so lucky that none of our cats are ankle scratchers or biters, although they do make a lot of ruckus some nights, but I do my best to ignore them.

Angel is divine, so I can see why you would forgive him his sins Happy Sunday xxx

  12. Kakka; I think I could ignore Angel a lot easier if we had more than three rooms. I'm glad the warmer weather is here so I can shoo him into the back porch some nights. I still hate summer heat though.

  13. Having had cats most of my life I can imagine him saying all of those things.

  14. The fourth image is worthy of enlargement and framing! He's a cutie!

  15. I still find Candy plays with rolled up paper and string or wool hanging from door handles more than anything.
I do find once she has 'caught' something she does lose interest.
She plays far less indoors now that she is an outdoor daytime cat chasing whatever takes her fancy.
She gazes at our finches in their large cage and imagines one for supper. They just ignore her.
Your Angel is so beautiful but I'd hate to have my ankles attacked.
