Musical Monday #69

Musical Monday

I was introduced to Musical Monday by Delores who copied the meme from another site.

I think it’s a fun way to show off some of the music we like and brighten up our Mondays at the same time.

I’ll be finding my clips on you tube, so will simply credit that site since there are often so many versions of everything and I wouldn’t want to accidentally credit the wrong artist.

Today’s clip is: Rod Stewart

Motown Song

Put this on your I-Pod, plug in the earphones and get walking.
Swing along with me. Watch out for uneven paving!

and I couldn't find the lyrics, sorry.

  1. I surprise myself with all the music I don't remember. Rod Stewart, Maggie May. I'm tapped out.

  2. Hi human, River,

My human, Gary, remembers that Rod Stewart song. Well nice, but not one of his better known songs, that's fur sure.

    Pawsitive wishes and doggy kisses,

  5. Ahhh...Rod! How could one not like him! This is another one of his many good songs...great to swing along to. I've always liked Rod...I love his cheekiness, too. He's never taken himself too seriously. Thanks for kicking the week off to a happy start! :)

    Here are the lyrics, River.....

Bring over some of your old Motown records
We'll put the speakers in the window and we'll go
On the roof and listen to the Miracles
Echo to the alley down below

"Let's dance together just for the night
Let's don't worry about the future or nothin' else
'Cause just like the music's sayin' you gotta take chances
Go ahead just do it and trust yourself

There's a soul in the city
    Watching over us tonight
There's a soul in the city
Saying everything's gonna be all right

So bring over some of your old Motown records
We'll put the speakers in the window and we'll go
On the roof and listen to the Miracles
Echo to the alley down below

    They wish us luck
But they think we're just dreaming
    Let's prove them wrong baby
'Cause you know what luck is
    Luck is believing you're lucky
That's all and showing just a little bit of faith

There's a soul in the city
    Watching over us I swear
There's a soul in the city
There's a whole world waiting out there

    Listen
    I got plans for us
Playing like a skip on a record
Through my head all night long
But when we walk that darkened stairway
And step out on the roof
I know what we're feeling can't be wrong

Bring over some of your old Motown records
We'll put the speakers in the window and we'll go
On the roof and listen to the Miracles
Echo to the alley down below

Bring over some of your old Motown records
We'll put the speakers in the window and we'll go
On the roof and listen to the Miracles
Echo to the alley down below
Let the Temptations sing it one time
Bring over some of you old Motown records
We'll put the speakers in the window and we'll go
On the roof and listen to the Miracles
Echo to the alley down below

Bring over some of you old Motown records
We'll put the speakers in the window and we'll go
On the roof and listen to the Miracles
Echo to the alley down below

Bring over some of you old Motown records
We'll put the speakers in the window and we'll go
On the roof and listen to the Miracles
Echo to the alley down below"

  6. Joanne; I love Maggie May! Along with about a dozen other songs.

Penny; nice to see you here, say hello to Gary. I imagine Rod's best known songs were Maggie May and You're in my Heart.

Elephant's Child; a stayer alright, like Mick Jagger. This one is a good bit later than his Maggie May era.

Merle; it's been done by a few different singers over time.

Lee; knew I could count on you. I already knew the lyrics, I wanted to put the you tube version under the song so people could sing along if they wanted.
Love the koala story you emailed me, there's a boy who loves his mummy.
