Musical Monday # 73

Musical Monday

I was introduced to Musical Monday by Delores who copied the meme from another site.

I think it’s a fun way to show off some of the music we like and brighten up our Mondays at the same time.

I’ll be finding my clips on you tube, so will simply credit that site since there are often so many versions of everything and I wouldn’t want to accidentally credit the wrong artist.

Today’s clip is: Dodie Stevens

Tan Shoes with Pink Shoelaces
from December 1959, Dodie was only 13 years old when she recorded this.

and the lyrics, although they're easy enough to understand.

a blast from the past!
how many of you remember this?

  6. fishducky; I wondered if you would, thought it might have been one that only got airplay out here.

Elephant's Child; I'm glad to finally put up something you know. I was surprised myself to find she'd only been thirteen when recording.

Plasman; before your time? I was hearing it in the sixties....yep, before your time.

Lee; I have a few other oldies on my ipods, I'll put them up now and again.

Margaret-whiteangel; it was a long, long, time ago. Where did that time go?

  13. When I first saw the title I thought "A white sports coat and a pink carnation" and then I listened to the song and suddenly realised yes I had heard it way back then. Such a catchy little tune and I am sure lots of people were whistling it when it was around. It was great to be able to hear the words which these days is almost impossible. Thanks for sharing and bringing back good memories (I was 27 when that recording was made).

  14. Andrew; I thought you'd know it.

Mimsie; I have 'white sport coat' on the waiting list, that's another one where the words are easy to hear and understand. I do like that in a song.
