Musical Monday # 81

Musical Monday

I was introduced to Musical Monday by Delores who copied the meme from another site.

I think it’s a fun way to show off some of the music we like and brighten up our Mondays at the same time.

I’ll be finding my clips on you tube, so will simply credit that site since there are often so many versions of everything and I wouldn’t want to accidentally credit the wrong artist.

Today’s clip is: Gordon Lightfoot

Sundown (with lyrics!)

this song is also on my favourite TV show, The Blacklist and here is a mini clip from that:

it's just a few seconds of the scene where Red has just killed Diane.

  1. Hi River,

Hope 2016 has started out well for you.

Never heard of that show you mention, but I'm very familiar with Gordon Lightfoot, one of Canada's finest singers. Thanks for reminding me of such a talented singer. It's well worth listening to his songs on YouTube.

  2. Interesting. I knew the song, but have never paid enough attention to the lyrics before. Such a sadness.

  3. I've been a fan of Lightfoot since the early 70s. I saw a wonderful special of his years ago...he's great. I think I wore this particular LP wafer thin!

  4. Looking forward to Blacklist coming back but the dross we're going to have to avoid this summer will make it sweeter.

  5. Gordon Lightfoot is a bloody legend!
Fifty years, and he's busier than ever.

I am addicted to "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald". Have been ever since I heard it in the seventies, and will play it at random times often throughout the year, listening to it sometimes two or three times over. It's heartbreaking story and song gets me every time...

  6. klahanie; I hope 2016 has begun well for you too, and Penny. This is the only gordon Lightfoot song I remember, I'll have to listen to more soon.

Elephant's Child; I'm the same, the melody gets me first and I learn the lyrics later. It is a sad one.

Lee; I'm going to have to listen to more of his songs at you tube, I've forgotten all of them.

JahTeh; I think we've looked forward long enough, bring it back now already! sigh- I hate waiting.

Vicki; that's it! I'm going straight to you tube and refresh my Gordon Lightfoot memory. I only remember Sundown because of The Blacklist and it gets played on the easy listening classic radio station here.

  9. I do like that song and Gordon Lightfoot has a great voice. Thanks for sharing that one.
We don't watch Blacklist although we really like "what's his name". It was the female lead that for some reason put us off. My daughter also enjoyed the series.
