Musical Monday # 90

Musical Monday

I was introduced to Musical Monday by Delores who copied the meme from another site.

I think it’s a fun way to show off some of the music we like and brighten up our Mondays at the same time.

I’ll be finding my clips on you tube, so will simply credit that site since there are often so many versions of everything and I wouldn’t want to accidentally credit the wrong artist.

Today’s clip is: Paul McCartney and Wings

Silly Love Songs

and the lyrics:

I hope these clips play for you.

  1. Silly love songs are MUCH better than much of the news. Fill the world with something positive and hopeful.

  2. I remember it well and fondly.

  3. On Monday evening of 10th November, 1975, my ex, Randall and I were part of the excited audience at the "Wings Over the World" concert held in Brisbane's Festival Hall (now no longer in existence). The size of the speakers on the stage were massive; absolutely massive. I'll never forget our reaction when we first saw them!

It was a terrific concert. Randall had always been a bigger fan of The Beatles that I was, but having Paul McCartney & Wings within such easy access there was no way we were going to miss the concert. Linda McCartney was on keyboards and back-up vocals.

An extra bonus was seeing Denny Laine, singer, songwriter, guitarist, percussionist et al, who had joined "Wings" in 1971 and remained with the band for 10 years. Laine had been an original member of the "Moody Blues", another favourite group of ours.

A light, bright start to the week. :)

  4. Elephant's Child; so very much better than the news, which is particularly bad today with a siege in Sydney and several killed, according to my Yahoo7 home page.

Andrew; it's a lovely song. And why not fill the world with love songs?

Lee; I'm a bit jealous that you got to see them. I didn't even know much about them, not even that they were coming to Australia. In 1975 I had two babies aged 2 3/4 and 9 months, the baby had just begun walking so I was pretty busy. A few years later, I think, I don't remember exactly, we watched a Wings Across America show on TV, which is where I first heard Mull of Kintyre I think.

  5. Always loved the Beatles. Great way of starting a Monday morning thanks. Hey love songs are cute even if they don't make sense.

  6. Munir; welcome to drifting. Love songs often don't make sense because Love often doesn't make sense.

  7. I used to love The Beatles but have never actually listened to Wings. A nice song but the drumming is always so loud these days.
I do agree though that there should be more love songs as the news is not good these days.

  8. Mimsie; I love the drums, so don't mind them being loud, but when I can't make out the words, that's too loud even for me.
