Sunday Selections # 266

Welcome back to Sunday Selections!

This once-a- week-meme was originally begun by Kim of Frog Ponds Rock, as a way to showcase some of the many photos we all take, but don't get around to showing on our blogs.

The rules are very simple:-
1. post photos of your choice, old or new, under the Sunday Selections title
2. link back to me, River, somewhere in your post
3. leave me a comment so that I know you've joined in and can come over and see what you've posted.
4. hop on over toElephant’s Child to see more of her wonderful photos.
  Andrew often joins in too.

I usually go with a theme for my Sunday Selections and this week, surprise, surprise, we're at the beach.

it was a glorious autumn day and I had nothing else to do so I went to see the sea

how blue is that water!

there was one sailboat

several fishing boats

one just cruising around

and a paddleboarder

getting a good upper body work out

making quite speedy progress too.

there were a few clouds

but not too many

sitting in a grassy park with houses on three sides,

and palm trees

and an **Exeloo, nicely disguised.
Looking at the view, before starting my walk along the sand:

sun, sea, grass and trees;

what more could a person want?

there was a man set up with table, chair and umbrella, having a picnic lunch perhaps.

And he wasn't the only one:

Ironman was there too;

fish and chips on his lap,

thongs on his feet,

cap on his head and a scarf around his neck in case the breeze should turn cold.

walking along the sand, I noticed a construction site up on the esplanade, so up I went to have a closer look.

and saw this. I looked it up when I got home, on one of the real estate sites I frequent and discovered the ground floor is two homes, side by side while the top floor is one home. I don't remember about the middle floor. It might be a second story to the bottom homes, or the lower floor of the top home. I should have taken more notice. All of them are already sold anyway.

**Most of the ones I see are left in their original stainless steel state, not at all pretty to look at.

  1. What a perfect day, and that ocean! All the blues and purples with a changeable silver sheen. *sigh* How blissful!

  5. Hi River,

    I know, where have I been...Anyway, I'm finally here.

What wonderful beach scenes. I see the sea and that's for shore. Ironman should share his iron chips :)

Enjoy what's left of your weekend, River.

  6. Paddle boarders are impressive to watch. We have seen one with a dog on the board too. I like Ironman. I bet he sees lots of different outfits.

  8. The Cranky; our ocean is almost always like that, changing colour only when it is stormy.

Athor R Mac Wheeler; he wasn't very talkative, but didn't mind me taking his photo.

Elephant's Child; you need to get down to the beach; let the sea and sand work its relaxing magic.

Lee; I'll probably go more often as the days cool down, it's a relaxing way to spend a day, even if it gets stormy. I'll have to be careful with the camera though, it isn't waterproof.

klahanie; we could all use more iron in our diets I think. Shore time is good too.

Andrew; I may go back in July or August, to see if anyone wraps him in a cape. I enjoyed watching the paddleboarder, he was going across the current, yet keeping a straight line and speeding along.

Merle; everyone needs a day off :)

    1. Yes, especially if you continue to pee in the sea, River! :)

Did you read my early comment on your post re the trains about the Walt Disney documentary? I hope you got to watch that doco when it was on a couple of months ago...it was brilliant.

Another double episode tonight of "The Blacklist"! :)

    2. Lee, my hubby and I watched the dodo on Walt Disney and in fact were were talking about it with our family today. Walt Disney turned out to be very different from we expected. Quite an eye opener.

  9. Lee; I don't watch documentaries, they mostly bore me to sleep. Had a nap this afternoon, so I'd be awake for The blacklist :)

  11. barbara; I'm glad you enjoyed your Mini break. Relaxing by the sea is the best way I think, as long as there is shade to sit in.

  12. What a lovely trip! I'd be interested in the homes also if I had a spare billion. I could pop by there for your summer and then come home for mine.
