Sunday Selections # 274

Welcome back to Sunday Selections!

This once-a- week-meme was originally begun by Kim of Frog Ponds Rock, as a way to showcase some of the many photos we all take, but don't get around to showing on our blogs.

The rules are very simple:-
1. post photos of your choice, old or new, under the Sunday Selections title
2. link back to me, River, somewhere in your post
3. leave me a comment so that I know you've joined in and can come over and see what you've posted.
4. hop on over to Elephant’s Child to see more of her wonderful photos.

Elephant's Child may or may not be participating this week, she is taking a short break from blogging.

  Andrew often joins in too.

I usually go with a theme for my Sunday Selections and this week's theme is random stuff, beginning with clouds and ending with a puzzle.

wispy early morning clouds, the bright spot behind the tree is the sun.

not sure why I was out so early.

interesting to see the different shades of blue as the day progresses, this is barely a half hour later than the first photo.

the darker blue indicates this earlier than the previous photo.

there's a plane up there.

sugar, butter, evaporated milk and marshmallows. Melt then stir for eight minutes.
Take off heat, add vanilla and chopped chocolate, pour into lined baking tray to cool and set.

What does it make?

fudge of course!

delicious, melt-in-the-mouth,

chocolate fudge.

this miniature water bottle holds 2.2 litres, handy for trips to the beach, but I keep it down beside my table so I can top up my glass and stay hydrated all summer.

this is my favourite dexterity puzzle.

the perforated sheet is curved and the object is to get all six ball bearings into the holes.

just like that!
I used to be able to do this quite quickly, my record is 18 seconds, left-handed, but that was a long time ago and I haven't been able to do it so quickly again.

  1. The perforated curved sheet looks interesting and challenging. I wonder if I can put all the six balls into the holes.

  2. Those puzzles are pretty much beyond me now. At just after 3 on Sunday morning I am back. For a bit.
Love your skies. And am not thinking about fudge.

    1. You are right of course but I NEED not to think about fudge. Or chocolate. Or pretty much anything which isn't a salad.

  3. Fudge, yum! Have you ever tried maple-pecan fudge? Or walnut. It would bring a dead man back to life, just to have a bite!

  4. Good morning, River. There's a light drizzle going on outside here this morning, which is very welcome. I'm not feeling guilty for having a slow start to my day. I was awake through to the wee small hours of the morning and had little sleep last night. "Rage" was showing another special (including part of a documentary) on Prince. So I was partying like it was 1999! :) The special and all the detail from an earlier documentary from a few years ago with comments by Eric Clapton, Little Richard, Terence Trent D'Arby and more was absolutely brilliant....of course. Rage had a Prince special on Friday night, as well...I recorded both, too. Also, I notice Ch. 9 have a special on Tuesday night...without checking, I think it's Tuesday night.

I won't be able to do the dexterity test because my hands will be full of that delicious fudge!

I hope your coming week treats you well...cuddles to Angel. :)

  5. Haddock; welcome back. it's a tricky puzzle, but if I can do it, anyone can.

Elephant's Child; I used to have a lot of those types of puzzles, this is the only one left and usually I only touch it when I'm dusting and have to shift it. I think you lie when you say you aren't thinking about fudge :)

The Cranky; I haven't tried maple, but I have made this same fudge with nuts in it, just not often as I have one child who doesn't like nuts in things.

Lee; I didn't give amounts for the fudge recipe; I can email it to you if you like. I just checked my program and don't see any specials listed on Tuesday, but there is a "to be advised" slot at 11pm. I don't stay up that late.

  6. I remember puzzles like that and I could never master them. Maybe this one is easier, not saying you aren't skilled though.

  7. Andrew, not as skilled as I used to be, it takes me several minutes now to get the bearings in the holes.

  8. It's hard enough to find my bearings in real life but to put them in holes impossible.
    Merle..........

  9. My dexterity isn't what it used to be either. But, my love of fudge has not diminished at all.

  10. Merle; I'm sure your bearings are just where you left them :)

Susan Kane; let me know if you'd like the recipe.

  11. What a lovely selection today...blue skies with clouds, a sensible water bottle and we in Oz all need to keep hydrated in our long, hot summers.
I love those puzzles and not done one for years. Not sure these hands would be as nimble as way back then,
Fudge? Sounds delicious but far too much sugary stuff and fat too so just have to look and imagine.

  12. Mimsie; I'll be happy to eat your share of the fudge :)
