Whimsical Wednesday #243

Welcome back to Whimsical Wednesday!

The day for your googled giggle that gets you over the hump that is Wednesday and sliding down into the weekend.

"You don't know what you've got...until you move."

so true!

I borrowed this one from Susan Kane at The Contemplative Cat.

  1. Susan just moved, and so did I. I learned decluttering almost overnight.

    1. Joanne; My brother also just moved, he's in limbo at the moment waiting for his things to arrive from the west. His company has him and his wife in a hotel for a week.

  2. I absolutely agree with that cartoon. Even after 21 moves, I always find something that was lost or forgotten as we pack and unpack.

    1. Cheryl; being an ex-Army wife, we moved every couple of years or so; decluttering wasn't a problem then. Now is a completely different story.

  3. You find things that there was no rhyme or reason for keeping in the first place.

    1. S.J.Qualls; I'm finding that now, every time I tidy up, well most times, I'll pick up stuff to dust or just to put things away, and wonder why on earth I still have this or that. And it goes into a box for Goodwill.

  4. We've lived in the same house for over 50 years; my heirs can do the packing!!

    1. fishducky; I have a problem with that. My oldest helped clear out her MIL's stuff when she died and a week later told me "never again, get rid of stuff you don't need now". So she's out of the clean up team. My younger girl is most likely to just take everything and add it to her own clutter.

  5. I definitely need to move so I can declutter. It is a horrendous thought to even consider.

    1. Granny Annie; pretend you're moving. Pile up everything you definitely want in your new house, then ditch the rest. Put back everything you've kept and feel 'new' again.

  6. How true (and scary) it is. I would like to do some serious decluttering. Himself is not in agreement.

    1. Elephant's Child; perhaps you could just declutter your own personal things?

    2. He resists that too. I have put some of 'my' things out, and had him reclaim them.

  7. Oh! God! I know what I've got...that's why I don't move! I can't move! I'm hemmed in!! ;)

    1. Lee; I suspect that's why my younger girl has declared she is never moving again. She's got more stuff than a flea market!

  8. My son and daughter in law sold their house and decluttered to my place, only for a while but it's all over the place.

  9. Very true! One day we will have to move - the very thought brings me out in a cold sweat.

    1. jabblog; think of it as a chance to declutter.

  10. HA! Ain't that the truth? That's precisely why I have NO intentions to ever move. Our kids can deal with all the "stuff" after we're gone. Nah, they'll probably just burn the place down... :)

    1. Susan; woo-hoo! Bonfire. I'll bring the marshmallows :)

  11. Or what you could get rid of, I might add.

    1. Linda Kay; that's what we did with every move. And I'm still in that mindset now. A bit anyway. There's not much here now that's totally unnecessary.
