Saturday night, 9:40pm

I've just arrived home from a night out with the girls.

It wasn't like what you might see on TV, this is a group of girls, okay, women, who all worked at the same supermarket, we get together once a year and have dinner somewhere.

Some of the girls still work there, and I get to hear all the current gossip about what's going on there.

We went to the Hampstead Hotel, a place I've never been before, it's a lovely place, spacious, family friendly, with nice food.
Air conditioning was set to a comfortable level and there were no draughts.

I ate the rump steak&garlic prawns combo, with a lemon curd tart/whipped cream/raspberry coulis for dessert. The prawns were very, very nice, but the steak a little overcooked for my liking.
I think they mixed up the orders a little as my friend had asked for a well done steak and hers was medium rare, like I'd asked for, but she had already eaten some when mine came out, so we didn't bother swapping and since both were edible it wasn't worth making a fuss about.
I've had better lemon curd tarts, but the raspberry coulis was tasty.

We sat around gossiping for quite a while, then one of the girls photographed the empty chair and sent the photo with a message to the missing member of the group who now lives in Tasmania, so couldn't make it. We missed her and we all hope she can make it next year.

    1. joeh; I'm a newcomer to reunions, this is the third year for me, and the get togethers have been happening for a few years more than that.

  2. It's really nice that you and your previous coworkers catch up with each other over a meal. It's so easy to let relationships phase out of our lives.

    1. Cheryl; far too easy. I know I should make more effort to keep in touch more often.

  3. Nice, nice, nice. I'm old enough that I mostly have curmudgeons like myself left. Our company isn't great.

    1. Joanne; I'm one of the oldest, there is only one older than me, the others are in their thirties and forties. But we're the original workers from when the store first opened in 2004. There was quite a lot of laughing going on :)

  4. It doesn't matter how good the food was, as long as you thoroughly enjoyed each other!!

    1. Elephant's Child; that was me too, until one year I was invited along and had more fun than I thought I would.
Do you think anyone would come along if you arranged a get together? Try?

    2. No particular state/s, River....just individual restaurants... it can be called one or the other, depending on the chef's preference, I guess.
