Musical Monday # 131

Musical Monday

I was introduced to Musical Monday by Delores who copied the meme from another site.

I think it’s a fun way to show off some of the music we like and brighten up our Mondays at the same time.

I’ll be finding my clips on you tube, so will simply credit that site since there are often so many versions of everything and I wouldn’t want to accidentally credit the wrong artist.

Today’s clip is: Cher

The Shoop Shoop Song (It's in his kiss)
from the movie Mermaids, starring Cher, Winona Ryder, Christina Ricci and Bob Hoskins.

I don't think anyone needs the lyrics, but here they are, just in case there is one person in the world who doesn't know them:

I hope you all like this one.

  1. Has been a while since I heard Cher. Not one of her best fans, I'm afraid.

    1. S.J.Qualls; a lot of people don't like her so much, it might have something to do with wearing not much more than mosquito netting on stage..(*~*)But I like her.

  2. Even I know this one. I do admire Cher's vocal range, but think other songs suit her better.

    1. Elephant's Child; I hadn't given any thought to what suits her, I just like the songs.

  3. That was such a fun movie...and a fun song; both versions by Cher and Betty Everett stir memories of good times in the far distant past.

I like Cher and have since the first moment I heard her and Sonny's "I Got You Babe" way back in 1965.

    1. Lee; it's a great movie, I watch it at least once a year. I like Bob Hoskins.
I haven't heard Betty Everett's version, at least I don't think so. I'll get over to you tube in a minute and find it.

    1. Dora; I think there may have been some surgery involved, not with her figure so much, but her face. Probably a little with her figure. She does sound great.

  6. I do remember the song but not who sang it and I certainly don't know all the words. All I can say is I used to love to listen to it so thanks for sharing.
I often tend to listen to tunes rather than words.

  7. Mimsie; I often listened to the tunes first and if I liked it enough I would learn the words.

  8. I love, love, love this choice. Cher had her day and those movie clips are uplifting. Thank you River. Plus it was fun to open the second clip and sing along.

    1. Granny Annie; have you seen that movie at all? It's called Mermaids, a fun movie with quite a few lessons learned as they all do some growing up.

  9. Great tune. Makes me remember how cute cher was. Call me weird but as a woman gets older, I'd rather see the wrinkles as they come into the face. Cher has a great surgeon with that smooth skin but where is that gracious older lady that we all want to become?

    1. Belva; I prefer the wrinkles that come with growing old gracefully, the ones that show you've laughed a lot, worried a bit, loved a lot. I often wonder if these "stars" have all the surgery for themselves or because they think their fans want them to stay young forever. Certainly a lot of the men don't bother, look at the Rolling Stones, more wrinkles than a load of washing left in the machine.

  10. I like Cher as well. I have been to several of her live concerts and she is very funny and entertaining.
