Whimsical Wednesday # 220

Image
Welcome back to Whimsical Wednesday!  The day for your googled giggle that gets you over the hump that is Wednesday and sliding down into the weekend. I'm told that this method of learning is reliable (*~*)  I don't remember where I found this, possibly it IS googled, but if I borrowed it from your site, then thank you.

saw something new and surprising here in Adelaide today

An open "bus" powered by several people pedalling it while having drinks. go here to see what I saw. You won't be sorry :D

Musical Monday # 93

Image
Musical Monday I was introduced to Musical Monday by Delores who copied the meme from another site. I think it’s a fun way to show off some of the music we like and brighten up our Mondays at the same time.  I’ll be finding my clips on you tube , so will simply credit that site since there are often so many versions of everything and I wouldn’t want to accidentally credit the wrong artist. Today’s clip is: Starship Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now and the lyrics : everybody's singing, right?

Sunday Selections #269

Image
Welcome back to Sunday Selections! This once-a- week-meme was originally begun by Kim of Frog Ponds Rock, as a way to showcase some of the many photos we all take, but don't get around to showing on our blogs. The rules are very simple:- 1. post photos of your choice, old or new, under the Sunday Selections title 2. link back to me, River , somewhere in your post 3. leave me a comment so that I know you've joined in and can come over and see what you've posted. 4. hop on over to Elephant’s Child to see more of her wonderful photos.   Andrew often joins in too. I usually go with a theme for my Sunday Selections and this week the theme is Sky . We have clouds , seen in the sky, and birds , usually seen in the sky, this time on the paving in Rundle Mall. one very dark pigeon, two cute little sparrows. I love the colour patterns on their feathers. the bus on the other side of the road always comes first interesting shapes her

the Chicken Stroganoff verdict

I was going to do this tomorrow, but I'll probably forget, so tonight it is. I should clarify that I have never had stroganoff in my life, so don't know what the sauce is supposed to be like. I did think it should have been more creamy than it was, but I could be wrong.  The sauce was a little thin, a little runny, the chicken was a little dry. I expected the dryness, because chicken breast is often dry when cooked in casseroles and this is similar.  The taste? Well, hints of chicken flavour, the mushrooms were tasty, (I used pre-sliced Swiss browns), overall though a bit bland. Is this how stroganoff is supposed to taste? a bit bland?  I'm wondering if adjusting the amounts of ingredients to suit my smaller pot contributed to the difference. Certainly I could have cooked it for a lesser time and maybe the chicken wouldn't have been dry. Less water and more sour cream might result in a creamier sauce; extra chicken stock would add more flavour. Probably a reg

new recipes are such an adventure aren't they?

especially when step one is to measure a quantity of warm water. boil the kettle, measure the water and place in a *white ceramic bowl , set it aside to cool. measure all the other ingredients and have them also set aside ready to be added as necessary.  begin putting away all unused utensils and bowls. (I always get out too many, in case I make a mistake and have to re-measure) *carelessly lift up the *white ceramic bowl to put it back in the cupboard and drench your t-shirt, one shoe and most of the kitchen floor. sigh heavily and dry off yourself, the floor and put the wet shoe outside. boil the kettle.... CHICKEN STROGANOFF ** made in a slow cooker pot. 1kg chicken breast, diced 1 onion, chopped 1 can cream of chicken soup 1/2 packet of French onion soup powder 3 teaspoons crushed garlic 1 1/2 tablespoons "gourmet garden" basil paste 375 g sliced mushrooms 1 tub chicken stock jelly (from the continental four-pack, each tub holds about a tablespo

Wednesday's Words on a Friday

Image
On Wednesdays, assorted people have been taking monthly turns at putting up a selection of six (or twelve) words which is called “Words for Wednesday”. We have taken over this meme from Delores, who had been having computer problems. This month the meme continues here , at Elephant’s Child’s site, with words and images supplied by Margaret and Sue. Essentially the aim is to encourage us to write.      Each week we are given a choice of prompts: which can be words, phrases, music or an image.    What we do with those prompts is up to us:   a short story, prose, a song, a poem, or treating them with ignore... Some of us put our creation in comments on the post, and others post on their own blog.   We would really like it if as many people as possible joined in with this fun meme. If you are posting on your own blog - let us know so that we can come along and read your masterpiece.   I’m hopeless at poetry so I always do a story. It’s a fun challenge…why no

Welcome back to Whimsical Wednesday! The day for your googled giggle that gets you over the hump that is Wednesday and sliding down into the weekend. today's giggle is NOT googled, instead you get to see my newest fridge magnets along with the oldest one.  Let's start with the oldest one: I don't remember when I bought this, but it's certainly more appropriate now than it was back then (*~*) Now the two new ones: you like?
