Musical Monday # 133

 Musical Monday

I was introduced to Musical Monday by Delores who copied the meme from another site.
I think it’s a fun way to show off some of the music we like and brighten up our Mondays at the same time.

I’ll be finding my clips on you tube, so will simply credit that site since there are often so many versions of everything and I wouldn’t want to accidentally credit the wrong artist.

Today’s clip is: Yothu Yindi

I want to start the year with something uniquely Australian.

Djapana

This is not the version I found last year while searching, that one had people singing, dancing, playing , painting, but I can't find it today.

and another of their songs:

Treaty, an original version which is a little different to the one we later heard on radio.

Lyrics to both songs appear to be unavailable or perhaps I just can't find them on you tube.

  1. Hey wow! That is some really nifty modern music with an Aboriginal flair.

    1. Happy Elf Christine; these are from the 90s and written by the Aboriginals, their cassette rose quite high on the charts.

  3. Thank you for featuring them.
Sadly too many promises by our politicians HAVE disappeared like writing in the sand.

    1. Elephant's Child; I knew you'd enjoy these. Promises made by politicians might just as well be written in sand and not only the ones made to the Aboriginals.

  5. Treaty is one of the best from the 90s and very cleverly arranged and/or mixed.

  6. I loved Yothu Yindi...and I just about wore the cassette through to tissue-thin from playing it so often.

Lyrics to both are on the sites shown below, River. :)

    1. Lee; thank you for the lyrics. My cassette didn't get a chance to wear down. I sent it to my sister so she could hear it and she kept it.
