Musical Monday # 135

 Musical Monday

I was introduced to Musical Monday by Delores who copied the meme from another site.
I think it’s a fun way to show off some of the music we like and brighten up our Mondays at the same time.

I’ll be finding my clips on you tube, so will simply credit that site since there are often so many versions of everything and I wouldn’t want to accidentally credit the wrong artist.

Today’s clip is: Psuedo Echo:

Funky Town
one of my all time favourites

Psuedo Echo is an Australian band formed in Melbourne in 1982

  2. I hadn't come across this before, it seems to have a good beat.

    1. Lowcarb team member; I think it's great for walking to, once you get a bit of speed up, the beat kicks me along nicely.

    1. Dora; they're Australian and maybe didn't get much airplay on American radio or TV. I don't know any other song that has the term 'funky' but probably there are some.

  4. Hi River,

That's a cover version of the original 1980 hit by Lipps Inc. I remember dancing to the original in discos around that time, making a total idiot of myself into the bargain!

Thank goodness there was no social media around at the time.

    :o)

    Cheers

    1. plasman; I remembered it was a cover version, but neglected to mention that; probably because I don't like the original Lipps Inc version.

  5. Many memories. As above, I didn't really know this track was covered by Pseudo Echo. Btw, there is a Pseudo Echo cover band, called Pseudo Pseudo Echo.

    1. Andrew; seems a lot of people don't know Psuedo Echo did this one. I remember having a mini argument with my supervisor at work over it. I've heard about the Psuedo Psuedo Echo cover band but haven't looked up any of their stuff. Do they record or just work at clubs like all the Elvis impersonators?

  6. Not for me. I like the beat though. And isn't it wonderful that there is a range of music/books/food sufficient for us all to find something to enjoy.

    1. Elephant's Child; the beat is what drew me when i was putting songs on my ipods for walking with. I think it's wonderful there's something out there for everyone.

  7. To these 82 year old ears it sounds like noise!!

    1. fishducky; I wonder if I'll feel the same when I'm 82? I already think a lot of today's music is nothing but noise, but I imagine my favourites might stay favourites.

  8. That should get us all off dancing to the start of the new week! A bit of good fun to lift our spirits and put smiles on our faces. :)

Have a great week, River. :)

  9. Yes I have heard this before but by another band. Still I found myself boogieing to the beat but with the volume turned very low.

    1. Granny Annie; the original was done by Lipps Inc, but I don't like their version. I turned the volume up a bit for this, but not much as Angel is sleeping.

    1. Barbara; I like to start the day with something that will get me moving. Otherwise I'm likely to just lie in bed until I need to pee.

  12. Even though they were an Australian band I'd never ever heard of them.
Not a bad beat but couldn't understand the words as is nearly always the case with more modern music. Sometimes I feel they should just stick to playing the music and forget about words. Could even be more enjoyable. lol

  13. Good to hear that, forgot about them!

  14. Nice! Very bouncy and perky. It sounds like the sort of thing I should listen to while exercising. If I exercised...
