Wednesday's Words on a Friday

The original Words for Wednesday was begun by Delores and eventually taken over by a moveable feast of participants when Delores had computer troubles.

The aim of the words is to encourage us to write, a story, a poem, whatever comes to mind.
If you are posting an entry on your own blog, please let us know so we can come along and read it.

This month the words are supplied by Granny Annie and can be found here.

This week's words are:

1. honest
2. worth
3. another
4. parallel
5. fan
6. intention

and/or:

1. blue
2. electricity
3. cash
4. outrage
5. potential
6. memory

Here is my story:

Remy closed the door behind Steve Brendan and took a good long look around his apartment. It didn't look good, that's for sure. His current life had no parallel at all with the one he used to have.
He began talking to himself as he wandered around picking up stuff and shoving it in a large black garbage bag," I had no intention of living like this when I moved in here. Maybe Steve is right, maybe there is potential for me to get back into review writing. It's certainly worth a try."

Remy sealed the now filled bag and shook open another one. "I've been in a blue funk far too long, that one preview I wrote might get picked up and bring me a little cash, then I can get at least a new shirt and start doing the theatre rounds again. If my memory serves, Alicia still writes for Harlequin Magazine and she has contacts that may be willing to talk to me."

He sealed the second bag and cleared a pile of dishes off the table, then started hot water running into the sink, ready to start washing up. "Thank heavens I always remembered to pay my electricity bill, even when I was drunk or stoned, mum's teaching must have sunk in pretty hard. I can just imagine her outrage at the way I let things go here."

Before starting the washing up, Remy crossed to the living room and opened some windows, then turned on the pedestal fan he brought out from the bedroom. "Time to clear the stink out of here," he said to himself.
"I'm actually glad Steve dropped in, his honest words have been a wake up call."

  2. It sounds as if his mother's lessons have given him a solid base to work on. I hope he can stay on track - and feel he will. Another great use of the prompts.

    1. Barbara; Remy gets his life going in the right direction again, it will take a while though. Had a scary moment this afternoon when the laptop wouldn't start up, was very relieved when she did. She's old for a laptop, possibly too old at seven.

  4. Remy told me to advise you that his royalties' invoice is in the mail. He said he's allowed you 30 days to pay, otherwise he will wipe his paws of you and take the matter to the High Court.

A great continuation of your story, River, using this week's words.

(Remy is, by the way, privately quite chuffed. I can tell by the way he twitches his whiskers. Shama has told him not to get a swollen head. She's not jealous, though. In fact, she's helping him with the autograph signing)!

    1. Lee; royalty invoice??? Huh! Sould I hire a lawyer? fishducky's Bud might help me out (*~*)
Nice of Shama to help with autograph signing. What will his fans do when they discover he isn't the same Remy as the story?

Good to see that Remy's ready to clear the stink from his life and get things back on track again. (Yay, Mom!)
