An emphatic yes from here.
Elephant's Child; I heard that emphatic yes all the way over here :)

Oh yes there might be safety in numbers but it all boils down to the actual number that counts. Good quote River
Cathy; that's true, the one who is left by your side when the dust settles, that's a friend.
Perhaps written with Facebook in mind, where people have hundreds of 'friends'.
Andrew; probably, but true nevertheless.
So very true. I don't go out looking to have a "tribe" of friends. I don't want to have a tribe. I know a lot of people, but my good friends, the ones I truly trust, I can count on one hand. And I like it that way.My best friends are those I've had since my school days and one, in particular, from when I was three years of age going on four. We're still the best of friends to this day....many, many years on. I would trust her with my life.
Lee; I don't have hundreds of friends either. I have dozens of acquaintances, and a few treasured real friends, mostly family, a few neighbours here, and my internet friends.
True friends are rare indeed.Merle..........
Merle; and they're to be treasured like the gems they are.
