Sometimes on the way to your dream,

you get lost and find a better one.

Why is it so? asks Professor Julius Sumner-Miller

Why is it tears can fall as endlessly as a waterfall?
Where do they all come from?

Why is it a heart painfully breaking into a million pieces continues to beat steady and strong?

Why is it my Angel can disappear so completely it's as if he never existed?

  3. The sight of his little toys and favourite spots and dinner dishes must be a constant painful reminder. I do hope he is safe and sound out there somewhere.

    1. only slightly confused; he didn't have toys, but his dinner dishes make me cry and I miss him creeping up to sleep beside my pillow with one paw wrapped around my arm.

  8. It must be so awful and I expect you have a very good understanding of how profound it can be when a person just disappears from family life.

  9. When I first moved out of home I had a rescue cat. I was living in a house with 3 other people. One of them managed to lose the dog of the house while on a walk, luckily the dog was taken to the RSPCA and returned to us. Then that same person deliberately let my indoor cat out. I know it was deliberate, they had told me many times they did not agree with my indoor only policy and that "cats should be free to roam" etc. Well I disagreed, I felt that is not safe out there in the world for cats, and it is not always good for them to be out there in the world with our birds and wildlife.

For two weeks I looked and looked. I had a feeling my kitty was not far away, and I was right. One of the other housemates returned home and parked in some long grass next to the house, opened their door, and there was my kitty who had been bitten by a brown snake and tried very desperately to get home but did not quite make it.

I did not get another cat at that time as I could not rely on the people I was living with to do as I would do and keep my indoor cat indoors and there were a lot of snakes where I lived at that time. Even though that house mate who let my cat out moved out very soon after my kitty was found because all they ever got from me after that was the death stare, like I wanted to rip their head off with my bare hands. And I did want to, believe me.

When I moved in with The Other Half, we got our first indoor kitty and both of us were in agreement that this is how we wanted things to be, and we both worked very hard to make sure our cats were taught that outside is not a place they can go. Since we moved here, they do get some time in the backyard with one or both of us supervising, but it is double fenced with the chicken wire fenced in area and then the outer fence.

The loss of a much loved pet is awful, and worst of all is the not knowing. :( I will never forget how that felt.

I'm so sorry that this has happened with your much loved Angel. :( There is still hope, there are stories of animals being returned to their owners after months, sometimes even years of separation.

    1. Snoskred; how awful to have a flatmate deliberately let your cat out. I do agree the worst is the not knowing. If I ever find out who took him, right now I'm sure I could rip his heart out, but in saner moments, probably not.

  10. Aww...hoping he will find a way to return.

When my sons were small, we lost our orange striped cat for over a month. It happened on Labor Day Weekend, and I thought somebody visiting in the area probably took him. Then we came home from school one day in October, and there he was, as if he'd never left.

Hick thinks maybe he rode to town in the back of his truck, laying on the toolbox where he liked to sleep. We agreed that somebody must have kept him in their house (we did not), because upon his return, he would stand on his back legs at the kitchen door, and try to grab the doorknob with his front paws like he wanted in.

    1. Val; that's exactly what Angel does when he's been out. Reaches up to the front door latch as if trying to open it. The noise rattles the screen door then I let him in. I still come home from going anywhere, hoping he'll be waiting at the door for me.

  11. Oh...I don't know, River. It's breaking my heart that Angel is still missing. But I've not given up hope...and I know you've not given up hope, either. How I wish I could find him for you....somehow...I wish I could bring Angel home to you, if not today, tomorrow.

I do understand the feelings, the sadness, you're experiencing...I've been there, and there is no way to gloss over the emotions felt...the loss and the endless wondering rips at one's inner being.

I'm not being trite when I say...every day and ever night I'm thinking about Angel...and about you - what you must be feeling.

Come on, Angel...you've been away too long...holidays must always come to an end...it's time for you to come home...back to the loving arms of the one who misses and loves you most of all, you beautiful boy.

    1. Lee; thank you. 40 days now and I'm still crying. I wake up at 3am when he used to want breakfast and I can't get back to sleep. His dishes are still on the floor waiting for him.

  13. Coming over here from Andrew's High Riser blog. Having 3 cats myself I know how hard that must be.
One of my cats disappeared for 1 week, I put posters up on lamposts in nearby streets, walked around every day looking for him....eventually 1 week later he came home, thin, but ok. Keep on hoping, contact the vets in your area, contact the ranger (if there's one in the area). Is he microchipped, that helps with identifying the owners.

    1. Sami; welcome to drifting. Yes, Angel is microchipped and I have notified vets in the area, also had posters up on lamp posts and a lost pet page on the animal welfare league page. It's been 6 weeks now, without a single sign of him.

  14. I know you are heartbroken over Angel, it's a shame that Angel could simply vanish, I'm still holding hope that he is out on an adventure and will come purring home soon.

    1. Jimmy; Angel used to go outside twice a day and never roamed very far. If he is off on an adventure he would be home by now. I also still hope he will find his way home; whoever is keeping him must be holding him indoors hoping he will forget. When they feel safe and let him out, I hope he will run for home.

  16. I'm sorry Angel still hasn't returned. As others have said, the worst part is not knowing.

I'm still hoping for a good outcome. May it be so.
