Sunday Selections # 348

Welcome back to Sunday Selections.

Begun way back in the mist of time by Kim of Frog Ponds Rock and now continued by me, with a drastic relaxation of rules.

Originally meant for showcasing old photos lost on your files, never seeing the light of day, the meme has morphed into photos of your choice, new or old, good or not-so-good, anything you please, but nothing rude please.

If you are participating, please leave me a comment so I can buzz along and have a look.
Elephant's Child always participates, and her pictures are always worth seeing.

let's begin with some pretty rain-filled clouds:

I snapped these while waiting for a bus

something I do a lot of these days

waiting for a bus, that is

plenty of rain in those clouds, but they moved on without dropping any on us.

In the city,

I saw this 'Darling building', which I agree is just darling 😎

and then this, which is much less attractive, in my eyes anyway

but what's this?

a bit odd looking, wonder what it is?

apartments? offices? we may never know, sure is a lot of windows though. Student accommodation? In teeny tiny rooms?

let's finish with Lola:

who turned that light on? leave me alone,

I'm so sleepy.

this was a surprise>>>

I heard her run into the bathroom as I turned on the tap and expected her to jump up to the basin for a drink, then I heard her lapping up water and turned to see her, head down, bum up, drinking like she'd been dying of thirst.

  1. I like the Darling building, that other one, not so much. The third building looks ugly to me.
Haha, Lola must have been thirsty!

    1. Sharon; I agree it's ugly, but intriguing too. Maybe they'll paint it. Lola does tend to drink a lot at once, but then she'll ignore the water bowl for hours after.

  2. Love the "window" building; very different!!

    1. fishducky; I like it too. It's ugly but intriguing and I wish I knew what it was for.

  3. Love the clouds. We really need rain and haven't even seen rain clouds to tease us.
I agree about the buildings. The second is not to my taste and the third is just plain odd. We have had cats who drink from the loo too. Noisily. Lola is looking lovely. Even bum first.

    1. Elephant's Child; I do wish clouds that promise rain would deliver, I guess we could call them political clouds (*~*)
Lola is a noisy drinker, I can hear her lapping from another room.

  4. I was going to say the second building is soulless, leaving me with great difficulty on the third building, which is just too weird.

    1. Joanne; soulless is a good description for many of the modern buildings. That third one certainly is weird and if I ever find out what it is for, I'll be sure to let you all know.

  5. We've had some rain this week...not a lot, but every bit helps and is most welcome. A light, very light drizzle overnight, too.

Those second two buildings certainly don't look very inviting....not as inviting the toilet bowl appears to be to Lola!!

Have yourself a great week, River...cuddles to Lola..you might have to get her her own porta-potty, or a water fountain! :)

    1. Lee; you're getting the almost drizzle we had recently. You're right about the buildings, but that third one has me curious. Lola is not getting a personal water fountain.

  6. I have had cats that drank from the faucet and dogs who drank from the toilet but I never had a cat that drank from the toilet - MOL

    Replies
    1. Grace; Lola likes to drink running water and actually "asked" me to turn on the tap one day by looking between me and the tap and meowing so I got the message. I never expected her to drink from the toilet though. She steps into the shower after I'm finished and gets a good drink there too. Her water bowl in the kitchen is a last resort.

  7. Clouds, a drinking cat and some building built out of Lego, Time for me to go catch a bus. No, not literally!

Have a nice rest of your weekend, River.

    1. klahanie; it does somewhat resemble a Lego building, each side has those angled sections too. I really wish I knew what it is, offices or apartments or rooms by the week.
You have a nice weekend too, give Penny a hug from me.

  8. Good cloud photos. The Darling Building is nice and I don't mind the second one. I have seen a similar design to the last one somewhere else. That is not a very good pose by Lola on the toilet seat.

    Replies
    1. Andrew; I'm sure a lot of people like the second one, like anything else, you can't see the outside once you are inside and it might be very nice inside.
      Lola doesn't care about poses.

  9. Lola looks a darling :)
Do like your sweet building, prefer the older ones.

    1. Margaret-whiteangel; I mostly prefer older buildings, but even some of those are awful and some modern building can be very nice.

  10. some quirky buildings in your neighborhood

    1. Author R. Mac Wheeler; yes there are and hooray for diversity. Even if I don't like the way some of them look, it's better than all buildings being exactly the same.

  11. The old buildings hands down. The new ones have no personality. Thought only dogs drank out of toilets. Cute shot of Lola catching a sip.

    1. Arkansas Patti; probably in a century or so, the new buildings will have acquired some personality. I also thought only dogs drank from toilets.

  12. I love cloud shots and cat shots.......what a cutie Lola is.

    1. only slightly confused; Lola is a cutie, but a bit aloof. She's getting used to me grabbing her up for a quick cuddle, but doesn't really like to be held, so I make it short.

  13. Great pictures of clouds and buildings. Love the cat drinking out of the toilet. My son was here with his Great Dane and it drank out of the toilet. Now my dog Frankie will go look in the toilet but she doesn't understand what her cousin dog was up to. Thankfully she has not yet gotten her nourishment there.

    1. Granny Annie; a great dane!He wouldn't have to leap up on the seat, that's for sure. If you keep the lid closed for a while, Frankie will lose interest.

  14. Ack, River, don't let Lola fall in the toilet! Seriously, though, aren't cats agile? That pose would be beyond a human. Enjoyed your photos!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. jenny_o; she won't fall in, the seat is wide and flat. I wish I was as agile. There's probably plenty of people who can do that, they'd all be circus performers.

  15. Just love those clouds ...
Lola is looking lovely - from any angle!

    All the best Jan
