Sunday Selections #

Welcome back to Sunday Selections.

Begun way back in the mist of time by Kim of Frog Ponds Rock and now continued by me, with a drastic relaxation of rules.

Originally meant for showcasing old photos lost on your files, never seeing the light of day, the meme has morphed into photos of your choice, new or old, good or not-so-good, anything you please, but nothing rude please.

If you are participating, please leave me a comment so I can buzz along and have a look.
Elephant's Child always participates, and her pictures are always worth seeing.

Today's selection is totally random, one or two photos from each year I have been blogging:

2010: flowers on a cactus in the Botanic Gardens Adelaide

2011: a beehive I discovered in a ground level meter box

2011: a section of unfilled honeycomb on the dislodged lid of the meter box

2012: the folds of one of my favourite umbrellas which has pink frangipani and bright blue tropical butterflies

2013: a butterfly that landed on my porch table

2014: the last time i had fingernails that didn't break as soon as I looked at them

2015: my garden when things were just beginning to grow; on the path at the left, Angel

2016: January, when the rains were so bad the roads flooded,

2016: a bus had to be diverted from the main road a couple of blocks away and came down our much narrower side street

2017: one of my dragon topped trinket boxes, I have three, this is the green dragon as you can plainly see, the others are dark blue and dark pink

2018: a small section of my working space

not bragging or nuthin' but this post is #2595, not bad for someone who often has nothing to say. On the other hand a lot of them are just photo posts.

  6. I like the trinket box. The beehive is kind of nightmarish...

    1. Val; I loved the beehive. it was in one of those roundabout islands to direct traffic through a four way intersection, the lid was off the meter box and the humming from all those busy bees was quite loud, that's how I spotted it. I took photos and called the local free newspaper who came out and did a little story on it, and photographed me beside it. I'm not afraid of bees, nor allergic either.

    1. Elephant's Child; Memory Lane is one of my favourite walks along with Imagination Street. it was nice seeing Angel pop up in so many old folders I looked through.
The number of posts astonishes me a little, I haven't been posting daily for quite a while now.

  8. That was fun. I remember some. You might ask to have your thyroid checked. A wonky thyroid sometimes causes chronically broken fingernails.

    1. Joanne; my thyroid was recently checked along with many other things, and all is well with me, apart from weak fingernails and crumbling teeth.

    1. Lee; I like lucky dips and always used to let my kids have a go at them at the markets when we were all younger. easy enough to stay warm here, the sun is shining and still caries plenty of heat only the mornings are too chilly so far and evenings see me pulling on an extra layer.

  10. An interesting walk forward in time. You always put words with photos, so it not just posts of photos.

    1. Andrew; I do like to explain what people are seeing, it makes it more like a conversation than an art gallery experience.

  11. Never thought of Austrillia having cactus.

    1. peppylady (Dora); Australia is a very hot, dry country, so cactus grows well here, although most native cactus isn't usually found in the cities. The one pictured here was part of the cactus garden bed in our Botanical Gardens.

  14. Very lovely and interesting Sunday Selections. Who would think to take a picture of umbrella folds? And I love your trinket box. I collect trinket boxes. Are all of yours with dragons?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Granny Annie; I wouldn't have thought of umbrella folds except one day I was looking down into them and noticed the prettiness of the furling. I don't have many trinket boxes and only three with dragons. Another is glass and quite tiny, a couple are metal with tight fitting lids and a couple of cardboard ones covered in pictures that I've put away somewhere and can't find them.

Quite an eclectic group of photos. I especially like the first one. It's very cool how the blossoms form on that cactus. And the dragon box, too. Very pretty!

  20. Kelley; lovely to see you here. I love cactus flowers, from a distance, don't want to get stabbed. I miss Angel so much, he's been gone over a year now and I still don't know what happened to him.
