yesterday was an anniversary, sort of

July 25th 2017, after several weeks of saying there'd be no other cat, I only wanted Angel back,  I made the decision to collect Lola from the Animal Welfare Shelter.

Perhaps I should have stuck to my original 'no other cat' decision.

Lola has settled in well, she is happy here, has put on weight and has a glossy coat and I like to pretend she loves me, but here is how she celebrated her one year anniversary:

Refused several types of food.
Ate dinner too fast then vomited it right back up, onto her newly washed fluffy blanket.
Three bouts of diarrhea throughout the day and evening.

Fun times eh?

*sigh*

  1. Lola is saying "I Love You" the only way she knows how :-)

    1. Kathy G; She says "I Love You" by snuggling next to my ribs to sleep at night and during the day snoozing close to wherever I am.

  2. Hmmm, it sounds to me like you have a cat! And since you are smart enough not to expect her to be Angel, but simply herself, i am sure she loves you. After all, she feels free to snub your food and leave you messes to clean, how else is a cat going to prove she's secure in your love and loves you back?

    1. messymimi; I most definitely do have a cat. I can tell by the cat hair covering the bed and bunching up in the corners when I don't sweep enough. I am really happy that she settled enough to be herself, she was a bit afraid her first week or two I could see that in her eyes, but that's long gone now. She knows she has a home here.

  3. I've never had a cat, probably never will, but as difficult as you make Lola seem, I might just like one.

    1. joeh; Lola isn't a difficult cat, it isn't her fault that she has IBS. I try to find foods she can tolerate and have found that a variety of much smaller meals per day seems to help.

    1. Andrew; I know it wasn't personal and I might not have been so annoyed if I hadn't just washed that fluffy blanket. I didn't yell at her though, that serves no purpose.

    2. Indeed it doesn't. Animals only understand immediate cause and reaction.

  6. Maybe all the excitement of her "anniversary" got to her.

    1. Val; maybe, but I'm not sure cats can read calendars.

  8. Even with the UDOs (unidentified disgusting objects) she is loved. And knows it. They are excellent at testing their boundaries though.

  9. Elephant's Child; Lola has only one boundary, she is to stay off the table and she is good about that. She stays off the kitchen bench too now that I think about it.

  10. I awoke this morning to a nice little pile of vomit in the hall - just how I like to start my day!! I'm sure Lola is so much better off with you than she would be with most other people (and she knows it, deep down).

    1. Around My Kitchen Table; I do hope the lights were on when you discovered that, not just by stepping in with bare feet. YUK!
Lola knows I'm doing my best with her IBS.

  11. And still you never mention rehoming her. Think you both found a mutual love. Happy Anniversary you two.

    1. Arkansas Patti; I couldn't possibly rehome her, that would be cruel. I think the IBS is the reason she was handed to the shelter and maybe not only once. IBS is a difficult thing to live with, but she doesn't make messes all over the place, her litter tray is easy to get to and I think we've mostly got the upsets to a minimum now. And she purrs so much more now, that makes me happy.

  12. Poor Lola. And poor you! I hope her tummy settles down now.
