I AM FURIOUS! and a little heartbroken

On Saturday 27th, I went to the local market with my neighbour V and I bought a pretty pelargonium.

I'd had one in this colour once before, but it died.

On Sunday, 28th, I planted it

this morning I went to the city to buy a few Christmas gifts and when I got home, I found this>>>

someone ripped off and stole the flowering stem!

with several other stems to choose from, they took the flowers 😢😢

This is the last straw. I am never going to plant another thing in that garden.

  2. Bastards! And not even a clean cut. I hope it will have lots of flowers, too many for anyone to bother with it.

    1. Andrew; one of the remaining stems has buds on it, so I'll have flowers again soon. I just hope no one decides to help themselves again.

  4. So many beautiful buds . . . what a crappy thing to do. It's very discouraging.

    1. jenny_o; it's the biggest reason why I don't really like being here. People help themselves to gardens. If just a small side piece is taken I don't mind, but I wish they would ask first, as I do. And to just rip off such a large piece from something newly planted could set back the establishment of that plant.

  5. Oh my goodness, that wasn't a very nice thing for someone to do at all..Just can't have anything special these days it seems.

    1. Margaret-whiteangel; I plan to move that plant today to a less accessible spot where I noticed yesterday it is sunny enough.

  6. So very aggravating. Whatever gets into people?

    1. only slightly confused; over the last couple of years a lot of 'rescued from the streets' types have been moved into the complex. more than a few have drug/alcohol issues or mental health problems. Quite unsettling for all of the elderly living here.

  7. Well, i'm angry on your behalf, that's a terrible thing to do!

    1. messymimi; thank you. I decided last night to move that plant this morning, right after breakfast.

  9. What a tacky thing to do. Could it have been an animal--the 4 legged kind?

    1. Arkansas Patti; no. An animal is more likely to dig up a plant and then mangle it. This is just the one stem ripped off.

  10. This is why we can't have nice things! I hope Even Steven deals that ne'er-do-well a consequence to reckon with!

    1. Val; if I find out who it was they'll be getting an earful, but finding out is highly unlikely.

  11. Is that a front garden where random people pass by? Do you have a private 'back' garden where you can have the pretty flowering plants? Everyone likes the pretty but that doesn't mean they can just help themselves. People just suck sometimes.

    1. Grace; all the garden here are open to whoever passes by, our back yards are shared spaces, mostly small and concreted with washing lines and rubbish bins. Some people have pot plants in their back yards, but mine doesn't get enough sunshine, only about an hour in the mornings.

  12. This is ridiculous! The nerve of some people! I guess they feel that what's yours is mine and what's mine is mine, too! (as my mum used to say!)

    1. Peace Thyme; my first husband used to say the same thing! He found out differently when he packed his car to leave us and I went out there and took back what was mine.

    1. fishducky; yes they are, but the awful kind of jerks, not the nice kind like joeh, fellow blogger.

    1. Kathy G; while I was out there moving the plant, I noticed another broken branch where someone (probably the same someone) stole a piece off the purple pelargonium. But that's a larger, well-established bush, so it doesn't matter quite so much. Although it does still matter.

    1. Around My Kitchen Table; most people around here are fine, there's just a few who like to help themselves and I know most of them. Catching them in the act is the problem.
