Wednesday's Words on a Friday

Image
The original Words for Wednesday was begun by Delores and eventually taken over by a moveable feast of participants when Delores had computer troubles. Sadly, Delores has now closed her blog forever due to other problems. The aim of the words is to encourage us to write. A story, a poem, whatever comes to mind. If you are posting an entry on your own blog, please let us know so we can come along to read it and add a few encouraging words. This month the words/prompts are supplied by Lissa and can be found here This week's words/prompts are:  01. secret  02. garden  03. walk  04. world  05. abandon  06. magic  07. life  08. forever  09. key  10. spring  Here is my story:  It was in the Spring that she told me. We met in the garden , to walk , she said, and we did for a while, admiring the blooms.  Then with wild abandon she threw her arms around me. "I can't keep this secret any longer," she said. "I want the world to know that you hold the key to my heart,

Football? No thank you.

I wasn't paying much attention to the news, but I did hear a bit about whether or not a certain football match would happen here hinging on whether or not our South Aussie boys would be allowed to come home from Victoria.  My opinion? I don't think they should be allowed to.  Here's the lead up: South Australia is in lockdown, set to finish Tuesday at midnight.  Our precious little footballers weren't allowed to train as they normally would, so as a collective they all hopped on a plane and went to Melbourne in Victoria, to train so they could run around playing with their balls and being happy little boys.  Melbourne is currently in a Covid crisis.  Not as Bad as the current Sydney crisis, but a crisis nevertheless and they are not in lockdown. Neither is Sydney. Our boys are over there where it's possible a few of them, or even just one, could come into contact with said virus, especially if a fan of the opposite sex wanted to come visiting and do a little ball

Sunday Selections #543

Long, long ago, in days of yore...Kim of Frog ponds Rock, (who no longer blogs), dreamed up a meme called Sunday Selections.  A place where those who were willing could put up photos they wanted to share, new, old, good, bad or indifferent, any photos you please.  Nothing rude or vulgar though. And we don't mind at all if overseas bloggers care to join us. The meme is now continued by Elephant's Child and I occasionally join in as do a few others. Andrew is one.  Messymimi is another. Drop in to Elephant's Child and have a look. this mess is what the plumber snaked out of my drains after I sent a week listening to gurgles that weren't normal, not a huge blockage considering I have been here almost ten years and have never called in a plumber. He took a photo for his records and I did too, on the left is what appears to be plant roots, the middle is a mess of grey hair, a bit of nylon line and on the right some red plastic strips like the twist ties often included in

here we go again

South Australia has been on stage 4 restrictions for a few days now, but we are going into a hard seven day lockdown from 6pm tonight.  The reason?  A fifth person has tested positive to the highly contagious Delta strain and one of them was at at restaurant function recently, where quite a lot of people were also attending so all of those people need to get traced and tested, and one or two of the others were out and about in the community, so there are 17 possible exposure sites. Lockdown means schools, restaurants, pubs most shops and clubs are all to be closed. Supermarkets, chemists, will be open, but masks are mandatory, check in with the QR code is mandatory and only a certain number of people in the store at any one time, so there is a person monitoring the line up of people waiting to get in. Masks are also mandatory on public transport and in taxi cabs. People will have to work from home again for the seven days. They have said that people who have their second vaccination d

Eric and Old Pete had supplied him with several easy to prepare recipes, so Khoral wouldn't have to eat at the local restaurants or pubs too often. It wasn't a p

Phone Scam!

I just had a phone call from someone supposedly at Amazon, asking me to verify a purchase for $799. If this was not authorised by me I should press 1, which I did then hung up right away.  I did NOT give them any account information. Then I phoned my bank and let them know that if such a purchase appears they should refuse the payment. The lovely girl on the phone said all should be well since I had not given them any account details.  so BEWARE people, any phone calls from numbers unknown to you, from anyone asking to verify a large $$$ purchase, HANG UP.
