continuing Friday's W4W story:

We slowed our pace a bit to accommodate Cynthia’s shoes, which were certainly stylish and fashionable, but far too tight for walking. I could see her feet swelling and knew her toes must be in agony. A huge sigh of relief burst from her as we neared our cottage. “At last! I can’t wait to get these shoes off!” I asked had she brought another pair with her and where was their luggage? “We left our cases at the bus station,” said Aiden. “We weren’t sure how far we might have to carry them, there doesn’t appear to be a car service.” “Most people around here prefer to walk,” said Terry, “but we do have a car and I can take you back to collect your luggage after we have had some refreshment. Are you planning to stay at the Bed&Breakfast? I don’t think we received a booking from you. Unless Molly forgot to tell me?” “No," I said, "they haven’t made a booking, but we have room.” “We heard about the houseboat,” said Cynthia, “and hoped we could stay on that for a week or so.”

Sunday selections # 569

Long ago, Kim of Frog ponds Rock, (who no longer blogs), dreamed up a meme called Sunday Selections.  A place where those who were willing could put up photos they wanted to share, new, old, good, bad or indifferent, any photos you please.  Nothing rude or vulgar though. And we don't mind at all if overseas bloggers care to join us. The meme is now continued by Elephant's Child and I occasionally join in as do a few others. Andrew is one.  Messymimi is another. Drop in to Elephant's Child and have a look. the cuttings pot on my front porch is doing well the white agapanthus in the front garden is blooming again the pink oleanders seem to be paler this year this poor little rose isn't getting enough water, it's in the front yard garden and the sprinkler system doesn't get turned on enough in that section. My hose isn't long enough to reach either. this is that front garden as seen from my front porch. I took a walk through it.. and saw this which I believ

Wednesday's Words on a Friday

Image
The original Words for Wednesday was begun by Delores and eventually taken over by a moveable feast of participants when Delores had computer troubles. Sadly, Delores has now closed her blog forever due to other problems. The aim of the words is to encourage us to write. A story, a poem, whatever comes to mind. If you are posting an entry on your own blog, please let us know so we can come along to read it and add a few encouraging words. This month the words/prompts are supplied by Hilary Melton-Butcher and can be found here This week's words/prompts are:  1. wellington boot  2. art  3. murmuration  4. sedge  5. thresh  6. fissure  and/or:  1. heath  2. race  3. cottage  4. mosses  5. windbreak  6. ajax Here is my story: (I have only used half the words and will work on the rest, maybe posting another chapter in a day or three) While walking home form the market and peeking now and then into my art stall bag of lovely new paints, Terry told me where he had found Khoral Kai. “W

something from the past

written some time ago by "no-one"  You all remember "no-One" is NOT me, right? She's funnier. Cooking With No-One: Vegetable Curry    A few weeks ago I was watching a movie called Nina's Heavenly Delights and it inspired me to try making my own curry, without using any store bought curry pastes, or curry powders. It turned out really well, so I made it again, and this time I took pictures. ** First I pre-cut a mountain of vegetables. I used potato, sweet potato, carrot, cauliflower and green beans. Of course, these can be swapped out for other veggies depending on personal taste. (I've heard there's some degenerates out there that actually like to have peas in their curry. Horrifying, I know.) Cut up 2 onions. Then go and sit somewhere else for a while, cursing the fact that scientists keep developing new treatments for erectile dysfunction, but haven't yet genetically engineered an onion that won't make my eyeballs feel raw. Damn onions. On

This is so the dunes don't get trampled and damaged as they are a haven for some plants and for many lizards, small birds and othe

Spam message on my phone

it started with a phone number I did not recognise, then the text  goes like this: "Our private video is out on the web-someone stole it. We have no idea how that happened." Then there is a link which I did NOT open, because this is spam and I won't print it here at all in case some readers don't realise it is spam. Beware people! They're out to get you.

Tasker Dunham of A Yorkshire Memoir   brought forth an old memory, a song I liked when I was young and my dad liked it too. By Paul Evans: I hope it plays and of course it isn't the same funny version I watched at you tube, because THAT ONE doesn't come up in the selection screen 😕

It didn't originate in Semaphore and I don't remember now where it is from, somewhere else in Adela
