I have promised to grow both large and baby ones for my sister's autumn themed wedding in October so I'm hoping nothing goes disastrously wrong with the crops. We had a good result last year but I've not tried small sized ones before.PumpkinPartynoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2664393407924733681.post-4189991517369663442011-02-17T18:16:09.765+10:302011-02-17T18:16:09.765+10:30Andrew; that's what I thought too. When I was ...Andrew; that's what I thought too. When I was younger, I'd visit school friends and their backyards all had pumpkins trailing over half the yard.

Kath; it's okay that you hate pumpkins. That just leaves more for me to eat.

Windsmoke; I'm going to keep trying. The cost of food these days is getting a bit much; I want to grow at least some of my own and store it for future use. I believe pumpkins store quite well.

Toni; I've done a similar thing, but used maple syrup instead of golden. It was nice, but a little too sweet. Usually, I just roast the pieces and serve with gravy. I put them in when the potatoes are half done, otherwise they get overcooked.Riverhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14794655013673748992noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2664393407924733681.post-84969105446610802432011-02-17T15:17:01.178+10:302011-02-17T15:17:01.178+10:30I couldn't get the photos to load last night, ...I couldn't get the photos to load last night, but came back today and there they are. You make pumpkins look even YUMMIER.
I cut them into chunks, place in a greased baking dish, season with salt pepper and a little nutmeg; melt some butter and golden syrup together, add breadcrumbs and mix well, then pour over the pumpkin, cover with foil, and bake till tender. Take the foil off and give the pumpkin a few mins in the oven to brown off.
YUMMY with a roast.
Let me know if you try it :)Tonihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16561240096806868742noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2664393407924733681.post-46099085510651181672011-02-17T09:31:16.885+10:302011-02-17T09:31:16.885+10:30Better luck next time, don't give up, keep try...Better luck next time, don't give up, keep trying you'll get it right in the end and a fantastic crop of pumpkins :-).Windsmoke.https://www.blogger.com/profile/12225394580987872677noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2664393407924733681.post-11463928724090114312011-02-17T08:06:22.964+10:302011-02-17T08:06:22.964+10:30River, I HATE HATE HATE pumpkin, so whilst I feel ...River, I HATE HATE HATE pumpkin, so whilst I feel your disappointment I'm glad that there's a few less in the world!Kath Locketthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09677312773827236567noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2664393407924733681.post-63911552157150559352011-02-16T20:40:47.253+10:302011-02-16T20:40:47.253+10:30I thought pumpkins grew really easily.I thought pumpkins grew really easily.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2664393407924733681.post-44472037017109272382011-02-16T20:22:24.855+10:302011-02-16T20:22:24.855+10:30Jim; 41 pumpkins!! I'm so jealous, and welcome to drifting.

The Elephant's Child; I don't much like the Queensland Blue pumpkin, I've found sometimes it can be a little on the bitter side. My favourites are the Butternut. The ones I'm trying to grow now are Buttercup, round and golden according to the picture in the catalogue.Riverhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14794655013673748992noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2664393407924733681.post-51936974964394535592011-02-16T19:30:31.126+10:302011-02-16T19:30:31.126+10:30I never met a pumpkin I didn't like so lots an...I never met a pumpkin I didn't like so lots and lots of luck with your crop.Elephant's Childhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06650565833097914052noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2664393407924733681.post-22775495428550106612011-02-16T19:26:09.272+10:302011-02-16T19:26:09.272+10:30As the area's guerilla pumpkin planter, I can ...As the area's guerilla pumpkin planter, I can happily announce I have 41 pumpkin happily maturing as we speak.!Good luck with your crop.Jimhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07618511960243841803noreply@blogger.com
