Clearly some of our architects and designers have been walking the streets and seeing what looks good and what doesn't.

Lee; seems odd to stay connected when the phone is off the hook, usually it's the other way around. My daughter recently had phone line trouble, turned out birds had chewed through the wire up at the top of the stobie pole, not all the way though, so it wasn't hanging loose, but far enough that the wires got weather damaged. In the two weeks she was in touch with them, three men stood on the ground looking up and saying they couldn't see anything wrong, after they'd check all the house connections of course. The fourth technician checked all the house connections again, then actually got a ladder and checked the wire up where it was connected at the pole. AHA! he said, and ran a whole new wire :)Riverhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14794655013673748992noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2664393407924733681.post-5123031973904874812015-08-30T16:59:22.607+09:302015-08-30T16:59:22.607+09:30River...I told Telstra this morning of my intentio...River...I told Telstra this morning of my intentions of deducting an amount off my next account when this problem is finally solved to my satisfaction...whenever that will be. They appeared to be in agreement to my saying I expected a credit on my account and that they would see it is attended to on my next account when its due; and have made a notation on their ongoing file about this current problem. So, I'll just have to wait and see, I guess.

I've had five conversations with them since Friday...and they are ringing me tomorrow at a designated time...and a technician will be here on Wednesday...the earliest one can be here. Hopefully, the problem will be solved then, once and for all. There is obviously something amiss with the phone line.

By a test I've been conducting today from a hunch I had.- trying to pin-point the issue...I've left the phone receiver out of the cradle (off the hook) and whether it's coincidental or not...when the receiver is not hung up...I remain connected to the net. Therein somewhere lies the problem, I imagine.

Watch this space! :)Leehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15835982875620956300noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2664393407924733681.post-65235979966796266422015-08-30T15:57:03.911+09:302015-08-30T15:57:03.911+09:30I quite like how new is shouldering up to old in A...I quite like how new is shouldering up to old in Adelaide - as long as it has some character. The Crankyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11482237436135513483noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2664393407924733681.post-69079993529552343052015-08-30T13:34:52.119+09:302015-08-30T13:34:52.119+09:30Elephant's Child; apparently the city branch o...Elephant's Child; apparently the city branch of the library hasn't been there all that long and for a while there were no signs directing people to it. Our main library is on North Terrace, along the same stretch that holds the reference (State) library and the museum. There is another branch of the city library on Hutt Street, reasonably close to me if I'm in the mood for a long walk. We have lending libraries in almost every suburb I think. I know of eight, including the city.

Susan; we are certainly a little more vibrant than we used to be. In the past Adelaide has been a quiet, sleepy little city, most of the residents very resistant to change. But the city needs to grow and that cannot happen without change and a bit of modernisation.

Lee; you need to make sure Telstra understands why you are not paying; email, snail mail, phone and tell them in person at the nearest head office. I've seen stories on TV where people have complained about poor service and the ginormous Telstra has taken them to court over quite small amounts of unpaid cash. I sincerely hope this doesn't happen to you.

Snoskred; well, now I have to watch Ghostbusters....

Andrew; I knew the reason for the bin design, but still they have been nicely designed, instead of being ugly. Our State library is also non-lending, but underneath it is a lending library which I joined within a week of moving here, and I've since joined every library close to whichever suburb I moved to over time. Many of them are now, ummm, affiliated? amalgamated? I've forgotten the word, but they are joined, networked or whatever, so you have one library card which can be used at all the libraries listed on the back and books borrowed from one can be returned at another. This means I only need to carry two cards instead of the six or eight I would normally have. The poles are interesting too. Big Brother will be watching you. While we have our State Library, it is not a lending library. A few years ago the City of Melbourne opened the City Library, a lending library and one at both Docklands and Southbank. I expect your council has done the same.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2664393407924733681.post-9493075048862644542015-08-30T10:33:51.726+09:302015-08-30T10:33:51.726+09:30I love that new bin design. :) That first building...I love that new bin design. :) That first building somehow makes me think of Ghostbusters.
