oh what a night

Late last night, lying in bed waiting for sleep, I heard something we've all been waiting for.

A storm!

Crashing thunder, lightning cracking across the sky and rain.

Lots and lots of rain!

Lola left the bed and went out through the cat door into the back porch to enjoy the spectacle while I fell asleep.
She's weird like that.
Most cats would stay comfy and warm inside.

When I woke this morning, she was back on the bed, and it was still raining!
It didn't stop until about 10am.

The air has cleared and I am breathing easier now, with much less coughing.

  1. It arrived here this morning and has barely let up, although not particularly heavy rain and without the storm.

    1. Andrew; I'm sorry you didn't get the storm, but rain is a good thing.

  2. I love the sound of a good storm, as long as there's not wind. Lola does indeed seem to march to a different drummer. My dogs go in their houses when the lightning and thunder start. Juno gets quivery.

    1. Val; I'm not sure if she likes storms or wanted to hide somewhere out there, I would think hiding would be better done inside, so I'll assume that she likes storms. I love a good storm, but not the damage caused by winds.

  3. I hope it continues and reaches us too. We have a tiny smidge predicted to fall this evening.
I am very, very glad to hear you are breathing better.

    1. Elephant's Child; we had several hours of sunshine after the rain stopped and I don't think we'll have rain tomorrow, but possibly Friday. I'll check the weather report after the news tonight.

  4. Weird cat indeed. Happy to hear that the rain and thunder helped your coughing go away. We had rain in the nigt here as well.

    1. Uglemor; I'm guessing there was something in the air which has now settled from the rain. Still coughing when I talk too much, I've just said goodbye to a visitor and started coughing after she'd been here about a half hour.

  5. Rain is our standard weather report - going on for about a year and a half here - so much rain but I don't mind since it has no affect on my life one way or the other - tho more rain rather than no rain is a good thing. I love windy rainstorms...

    1. Grace; rain is always very welcome here, we see so little of it for most of the year. South Australia is the driest state in our very dry continent.

  6. Your cat is a rummin!
Rained most of the day here which was wonderful.

    1. Margaret-whiteangel; a rummin? I've never heard that word before. Rain is lovely after the heat isn't it?

    1. only slightly confused; thank goodness indeed, and we all hope it will rain for most of our winter, although that's unlikely.

  8. Delighted you are getting much needed rain. We could have loaned you some here for it has rained almost non stop for a month. I never complain about rain though, been through too many droughts.
Such a brave one Lola is. Callie would have been a shriving mess.

    1. Arkansas Patti; I don't know where Lola gets her bravery from, I know nothing at all of her early years, she was eight and a half when I got her. You northern hemisphere people do get far more rain that we do.

  9. That Lola is a piece of work. On the other hand, my cat would open one eye and go back to sleep. I'm glad the storm improved your atmosphere!

    1. Joanne; I'm glad the atmosphere has cleared a bit too, but soon enough the sun will come out and everybody's garden mulch and fallen leaves will start moldering, which is good for the earth, but bad for my sinuses and lungs. Loa is a piece of work alright, we're still trying to figure each other out after almost two years.

  10. When the thunder is thundering, my two shoot under the bed...they're not fond of thunder.

Glad yo'u have received rain, River...and the air has cleared...fresh and clean. :)

  11. There is nothing like rain after a long dry spell.

  12. Funny Lola :) I like a good thunderstorm right up until the point where the house starts to shake from it!
