sometimes I think I should cut out the middleman altogether

Just take that freshly made cup of coffee and pour it straight down the toilet. When I was working, I limited myself to one cup a day. Because coffee makes me pee. So I'd get home, have my cuppa, then until dinnertime I'd be off to the toilet every 40 minutes or so. Now that I'm not working, I often still limit myself to the one cup. If I'm planning on going out anywhere, that cup will be had after I get home. If I'm not going out, sometimes I'll have two coffees in one day. But when I'm headed into the bathroom yet again, I wonder why I bothered.  Tell myself to drink water instead, or a cup of tea. The problem you see, is the sugar. I like my coffee with sugar. Lots of sugar. With tea I have honey and my bladder is much happier. But I like coffee. And I like it sweet. Here's the odd thing.....if I'm wide awake in the wee early hours, I'll get a cup of sweet coffee and drink it in bed, with a good book or whatever I'm currently r...

meanderings of a Monday mind

"Idiot!" The shouted word startled her out of a dream and she lay staring up at the darkness, the sound of running feet above, things dropping, a door slamming open, something being thrown off the balcony from the flat upstairs. Thuds then, as cabinet doors opened and closed, the hiss of water going into an electric kettle, the steady rumble as it heated then boiled. The clinking of a teaspoon against a mug, footsteps again, quieter now and slower. She glanced at the bedside clock, 1:08am. She wondered what the exclamation had been about and knew she would never find out. She lay for a moment, hoping the dream would reclaim her, but sleep was as elusive now as a cool breeze in a desert. She made her way to the kitchen, where soon there was her own coffee making noise. She took the mug back to bed, propped herself with a mountain of pillows and reached for the latest action thriller that had arrived in the mail just a few days ago. Finishing the coffee, she read unt...

Monday.

Mondayitis. Bleh! After two weeks of slothing, eating, sleeping, reading, watching dvds, today I go back to work. I had planned to kickstart a new health routine. Wake early, go for a walk, organise my cupboards better, (well I did the cupboard thing), eat more fruit. Not too much of that actually happened. Although I did go for a couple of walks, it's been raining off and on, so I stayed home a lot instead. Because I don't like to get the camera wet. And I had lots of lovely books to be reading. And a comfy bed to read them in. And coffee whenever I wanted it. And I'm lazy. The coffee had quite a bit to do with me staying home too. Coffee makes me pee. Often. So after having a coffee I pretty much have to stay home for the next few hours, where the bathroom is only a few steps away. When I'm working, I get only one coffee a day, after I get home from work. A second coffee would have me up all night going to and from the toilet, which is not good...
