Monday Musings #7 I think, I'll have to check

I've heard of cats dipping a paw in their water before drinking it, but I've never seen any cat do that, apart from tigers on TV.  Last night I just happened to glance into the kitchen as Angel dipped his paw in his water bowl, then had a good long drink.  I know there is a reason for the dipping, I can't remember what that is right now, but it was interesting to see him do it. I saw a sign on a vacant shopfront when I was in the city on Saturday, but didn't have my camera with me :(  someone else noticed it and took a photo which turned up on the back page of our Sunday paper this morning, where all the other funny 'send-ins' go:  EDUCATION IS IMPORTANT COFFEE IS IMPORTANTER We've had a beautiful day here, almost spring-like, sunny blue skies, blossoms on the trees, golden wattle everywhere, if only the wind wasn't so darn cold.  Anyway, because it was sunny, I washed all my bedding, even pyjamas and dressing gown got a tumble in the hot su

Sunday Selections # 239

Welcome back to Sunday Selections! This once-a- week-meme was originally begun by Kim of Frog Ponds Rock , as a way to showcase some of the many photos we all take, but don't get around to showing on our blogs. The rules are very simple:- 1. post photos of your choice, old or new, under the Sunday Selections title 2. link back to me, River , somewhere in your post 3. leave me a comment so that I know you've joined in and can come over and see what you've posted. 4. hop on over to Elephant’s Child to see more of her wonderful photos.   Andrew often joins in too. I usually go with a theme for my Sunday Selections and this week we are back in the city. this is the new style of rubbish bins in Victoria Square, I like them.  looking down Franklin Street, I like this little faux balcony, here is the rest of the building. not sure what was going on here, with that yellow pipe. Some sort of waste removal method, perhaps demolitions an

Wednesday's Words on a Friday

On Wednesdays , Elephant’s Child has been putting up a selection of six (or twelve) words which is called “Words for Wednesday” . She had taken over this meme from Delores , who is gradually retiring from the blogging world. This month the meme continues here , at Randomosity. check at Randomosity for next month's participant. Essentially the aim is to encourage us to write.      Each week we are given a choice of prompts: which can be words, phrases, music or an image.    What we do with those prompts is up to us:   a short story, prose, a song, a poem, or treating them with ignore... Some of us put our creation in comments on the post, and others post on their own blog.   I would really like it if as many people as possible joined into this fun meme.   If you are posting on your own blog - let us know so that I, and other participants, can come along and applaud. I’m hopeless at poetry so I always do a story. It’s a fun challenge…why not join in

Thursday Thoughts # 60

I have three book quotes here, but don't remember which books they came from. " One of the problems with flying a jet is you don't get a lot of time to admire the scenery." " We're all gonna die. The trick is not to rush it." "Q: how many feebies (FBI Agents) does it take to change a light bulb?  A: all of them. Ten thousand to study the problem, twenty-six hndred to fill out forms in triplicate and wait for approval, seventeen to monitor from a safe distance and one agent to go undercover and bribe a confidential informant to climb the ladder and do the dirty work." Today's Thoughts Things I've seen on TV.  It's not a long list, you won't need a cuppa. On one show, I watched as a young couple in a cafe greeted each other with a passionate kiss. They broke apart and he said something to her and she replied, "I think I left my gum in your mouth." He said, " you want it back?"  She said, "

Whimsical Wednesday # 190

Image
Welcome back to Whimsical Wednesday! The day for your googled giggle that gets you over the hump that is Wednesday and sliding down into the weekend. today's is more awesome than giggle, found at the cake wrecks site. Did you hear about the big food fight? First the peas snapped at the celery, which stalked off. Then the potatoes made eyes at the onions, which made everyone cry. And though the carrots rooted for peace, in the end, they all decided to just sit'n'stew. Awesome and funny, right?  The whole thing is cake!

Musical Monday # 68

Image
Musical Monday I was introduced to Musical Monday by Delores who copied the meme from another site. I think it’s a fun way to show off some of the music we like and brighten up our Mondays at the same time.  I’ll be finding my clips on you tube , so will simply credit that site since there are often so many versions of everything and I wouldn’t want to accidentally credit the wrong artist. I don't do these every week now, just alternate weeks. Today’s clip is: Brooks and Dunn My Heart is Lost to You and the lyrics: I hope you enjoy these, if you do, or not, why not consider joining in? Just leave me a comment here and I'll pop over and see what kind of music you like to listen to . Mimsie does a selection of her favourites on Fridays .

See those strips with the holes? Under the water.  ta-da! the strips hold smaller water spout holes while the larger ones in the middle might be underwater lights . If I'm right a
