I love my kindle, I really do. So many books in one tiny package. Plus, of course, the kindle user's guide. Which I have mostly ignored since reading the part about how to download the books. Every now and again, after finishing whatever book I've been reading, I'll go back to the user's guide and read another chapter of it. Sometimes it's relevant, sometimes not. Last night I read how to make "collections" with my books. I could choose to have a romance collection, a comedy collection, a murder mystery collection, simply by selecting "create a new collection" from the menu choices and typing in a title for it. I've chosen instead to create collections based on either story characters or authors. For instance, the author Lee Child writes about a character named Jack Reacher, so I've titled one collection "Jack Reacher" , now I have to go through the long, long process of finding each Jack Reacher story ( 24 of...

Yesterday Andrew wrote about the possibility of acquiring a man bag to carry various personal items including pocket sized antibacterial gel. This product was new to him, but he sees the merits of carrying some at all times. I think man bags are an excellent idea. Andrew then asked, what do women usually carry in their handbags? Several commenters mentioned their contents, I decided to turn this into a blog post.   I emptied my current bag onto the coffee table and took photos. This is the stuff that hides in the small zippered pocket. A comb, bandaids, safety pins, spare usb, nail file, lens cleaner wipes, the stronger migraine tablets, and a spare camera battery. There's usually a tape measure in there too, I'd better find that and put it back in there. This surprisingly small pile of goodies is divided between the three main pockets.  There's a few things missing here too. A notebook, pocket pack of tissues, hankies, and the purse sized antibacterial...

Final Empire. Book one in the Mistborn trilogy by Brandon Sanderson. I don't have a photo of the cover, because I have this on my kindle instead. So here's a couple of quotes..... My daughter K first mentioned these books to me a long while back but I hadn't paid attention and forgot about them.  Silly me. More recently we were discussing books and my son J said I should read the Mistborn trilogy. So I downloaded them, yes, all three books, that very same day,  ignored all the other stories already on the kindle and started reading Final Empire.   I was hooked within the first chapter.
