Ha Ha! I'm a genius!

Well, maybe not quite, but I feel like one . 😎 I solved my i-tunes problem all by myself on Sunday evening. I'd been staring at my computer in frustration, reading chapters of the book beside me, glancing up at the TV where I'm currently watching old Star Trek TV episodes from the 60s, and made a decision. I would go to the uninstall program and uninstall not just the stalled download/ installation, but everything with the name "apple".  I'd tried to uninstall it several times, but just didn't notice the second "apple" program right under it. So when I did, I uninstalled that one first and had my "Eureka!" moment. Once uninstalled it was an easy matter to simply start over and I now have i-tunes on the new computer and I started transferring my playlists right away. I didn't get very far because I kept falling asleep, so I'll continue for the next few days until done. Now I can once again listen to this or that playlist whi

Musical Monday # 137

Musical Monday I was introduced to Musical Monday by Delores who copied the meme from another site.   I think it’s a fun way to show off some of the music we like and brighten up our Mondays at the same time.   I’ll be finding my clips on you tube , so will simply credit that site since there are often so many versions of everything and I wouldn’t want to accidentally credit the wrong artist.   Today’s clip is: Jimmy Barnes Little Darling and once again I don't seem to be able to find the lyrics  on you tube

Sunday Selections # 312

Welcome back to Sunday Selections. Begun way back in the mist of time by Kim of Frog Ponds Rock and now continued by me, with a drastic relaxation of rules. Originally meant for showcasing old photos lost on your files, never seeing the light of day, the meme has morphed into photos of your choice, new or old, good or not-so-good, anything you please, but nothing rude please. If you are participating, please leave me a comment so I can buzz along and have a look. Elephant's Child always participates, and her pictures are always worth seeing. Today I'm going to  focus on my computers, the new, hmmm,  and the old luv luv luv, but dying. She keeps turning herself off several times a day even when plugged in to power source. So I bought this new one: hp. You probably can't see it, but it has a ribbed lid, not a smooth one. Maybe it will show if you enl arge the photo. it's matte black, with the only shine being these few stripes on either side of the k

Wednesday's Words on a Friday

The original Words for Wednesday was begun by Delores and eventually taken over by a moveable feast of participants when Delores had computer troubles. The aim of the words is to encourage us to write, a story, a poem, whatever comes to mind. If you are posting an entry on your own blog, please let us know so we can come along and read it. This month the words are supplied by Granny Annie and can be found here . This week's words are: 1. document 2. birthday 3. network 4. removable 5. jungle 6. open and/or: 1. quote 2. holds 3. avoid 4. surrender 5. grace 6. living There is also a rather pretty picture of assorted dry pasta shapes , which I haven't used. Here is my story: Grace King,  from the Channel 19 network , holds her microphone closer as I struggle to answer her questions. I'd agreed to be interviewed in order to warn others of the dangers of playing on jungle gyms in the rain. Cameras were set up in my living room, with huge lamps in the corners, so as to get the

question time

I've heard Toshiba was bought out by a company called Lenovo, can anyone out there verify this? My old laptop is a Toshiba Satellite, sweetest little laptop I ever owned, but when shopping for a new one, I was told Toshiba no longer make computers. I looked around the store and all I could see were dozens of Lenovos, a brand I had never heard of,  a few HP, and a couple of Acers with a couple of Dells mixed in.  And everything was black. I bought what I could afford, an older model HP, on sale. No CD/DVD tray 😒 It hasn't got a smooth scrolling system and absolutely everything is covered in advertisements. Especially songs on youtube. Does anyone else out there have an HP laptop? Are you happy with it? I'll get used to it I suppose, but I don't think I'll ever like it.  Definitely can't see myself becoming attached to it like I did with the Toshiba.

she died, so I went shopping

And here I am typing on my brand new laptop. I bought it, carted it out to no-one's house and she got the set up and start going for me. We thought it wouldn't take long. Boy were we wrong! As well as setting up new user names and passwords, windows10 decided it needed to download and install a gazillion updates. Four hours later, the sun is heading west and the updates were almost finished; at the point where we could close the computer and send me home to finish up on my own. So I've managed to sign into blogger, after first typing in my url and getting a blog of the same name in the UK and having a mild OH NO! moment. I have absolutely no other blogs saved in "my favourites", they're all on the old computer. I also have no songs on the iTunes page; pretty sure I don't even have an iTunes page anymore, I'm going to have to download that, but since this one doesn't have a cd/dvd tray I won't be able to restock all my songs 😞 and

Today's photos are mostly gardens: Something odd was happening in my garden last week, with several items and plants appearing over a couple of nights, that certainly weren't mine. I eventually discovered these things belong to a young neighbour whose mother is currently visiting. Mum has gone cold turkey off her medications and is prone to doing unexpected things, like wandering away and getting lost, and taking all of her dau

This week's words are: 1. honest 2. worth 3. another 4. parallel 5. fan 6. intention and/or: 1. blue 2. electricity  3. cash 4. outrage 5. potential 6. memory Here is my story:   Remy closed the door behind Steve Brendan and took a good long look around his apartment. It didn't look good, that's for sure. His current life had no parallel at all with the one he used to have. He began talking to himself as he wandered around picking up stuff and shoving it in a large black garbage bag," I had no intention of living like this when I moved in h

Whew! I'm back for now, but who knows for how long?

Sorry to give you all a scare like that, but I was a bit scared myself too, so hope you'll all forgive me. My sweet little laptop has been acting oddly for  a couple of weeks now, I'm happily doing whatever and suddenly she turns herself off. I let her nap for a while then start up again. Today? She took a nap, so I went off and did other houseworky things, then turned her on again and all was well for a while, then  off she went again, but with a tiny popping sound this time.  So of course I got all panicky and texted no-one for help, she talked me through finding blogger on my phone and from there I managed to sign in and leave the previous message. I have to say, typing on that tiny screen is something I'd rather not do again, so of my lovely does die, you won't hear from me until I replace her. Let's all cross our fingers that doesn't happen okay? When I turned her on and she booted up oh-so-slowly, I got busy and wrote, then scheduled, my Wednesda

MAYDAY MAYDAY MAYDAY

My computer appears to have died, which means my Wednesday's Words on a Friday won't appear since I haven't written it yet and I'm not typing out a story on this tiny phone screen, sorry. I'll try starting up the computer again later, maybe it just needs a nap, but is has been acting oddly these last two weeks.  I probably won't be able to see your replies, I had a hard enough time finding out how to do this much :(

Let's begin today's selection with : agapanthus, the white variety which is finally blooming at the end of my path Sir Sleepyhead, taking up valuable table space how can I say no to a face like this? here's something unexpected, a large cobweb growing from my ceiling down into the smoke alarm. I can't believe I didn't notice it! And I wouldn't have if one loose strand over by the cornice started blo
