geez, the hayfever is a little out of control here

Well, that's what I thought was happening. Extra sneezing, extra sinus stuffiness, extra headaches. I put it down to hayfever, because I don't get sick, do I? Besides, everyone knows this has been a really bad hayfever season this year. It's on the TV news at least once a week, with daily pollen counts and warnings of north-easterly winds given with the weather report. Today's warning is for high pollens AND a north-east wind. Double trouble! (The north east winds bring the pollens from the grasses in the hot centre of Australia down into the city, this is bad news for us sufferers.) Plus, the huge white cedar tree is now blooming profusely and choking up  my chest as I walk past it every day on my way to the bus stop. I must take a photo of that tree, it's so petty right now. Here's what's really happening....... I'd completely forgotten that I'd worked next to a girl suffering from a cold last Friday. (My day off, why did I agree to...

and so it begins...

The migraine inducing sinus pressure. See those tiny white flowers just left of centre? Jasmine. Jasminus Polyanthus. (I think. I looked up the proper name once and I think that is it.)  If you click on the picture and enlarge it you'll notice all the fat pink buds surrounding the flowers and climbing higher into the tree. With just these few flowers, I'm already suffering, although not too badly. Once the vine is in full bloom however, I'll have to be very, very careful about opening the house. Not too early in the mornings, close up again about 4pm. The scent from these is released at dusk and stays heavily in the air all night and well into the morning. This particular plant is climbing a tree just over the back fence where our communal washing lines are.  Quite close to my back door. It means holding a hanky to my nose to filter my air as I walk to the bus in the mornings. I don't care how silly I look, nor do I care what people may think. I'll f...

I sneezed...and dropped stuff...

alternative title..... Spring is lovely, but she's a bi*** to live with. It's hayfever season. Trees are covered in blossom, the Jasmine buds are richly pink and getting fat. Any day now, the Jasmine will bloom and my sinuses will be in trouble. I've stocked up on antihistamines. Lots and lots of antihistamines. I fear I won't have enough, since this hayfever season is predicted to be the worst we've had for quite some time. Tuesday's strong winds kicked off my sniffles by blowing pollens in all directions. I woke up that morning with stuffy sinuses and have spent the entire days since then sniffling, blowing, sneezing. My nose is raw and my whole face aches from the pressure. I've been taking double doses of antihistamine and I'm close to being a zombie. This will pass. Anyway, back to my original story. I've decided it's time to update my i-pod playlist.  I'd deleted many of my favourite songs, since I only had the small 512MB...
