Sunday Selections # 548

Image
Long ago, in days of yore...Kim of Frog ponds Rock, (who no longer blogs), dreamed up a meme called Sunday Selections.  A place where those who were willing could put up photos they wanted to share, new, old, good, bad or indifferent, any photos you please.  Nothing rude or vulgar though. And we don't mind at all if overseas bloggers care to join us. The meme is now continued by Elephant's Child and I occasionally join in as do a few others. Andrew is one.  Messymimi is another. Drop in to Elephant's Child and have a look. these are the two crows that come to eat mealworms by my front porch. It's a little blurry because I had to take the photo through the screen door. fake daffodils blooming at the base of the fake tree in the back porch a happy little fisherman, I think I have shown him before, but this time the 'lake' is painted blue. the Fairies are back but I haven't told the redheads yet, it's been too cold out there lately these two have always

modern ideas

As we all know, I like to trawl around the real estate sites looking for the perfect home, just in case I win lotto. Over the years I have found several perfect-for-me homes, but the lotto win is yet to happen. Recently I have noticed a trend of large flat screen televisions being mounted high on a wall above a functional heater or fireplace.  Heat rises, we learned this in science class many eons ago. Surely this placement is not ideal for televisions?  And what about having to lean way back in your chair or couch and/or getting a permanent crick in your neck from looking up at the screen? I prefer my screen at eye level.

Wednesday's Words on a Friday

Image
The original Words for Wednesday was begun by Delores and eventually taken over by a moveable feast of participants when Delores had computer troubles. Sadly, Delores has now closed her blog forever due to other problems. The aim of the words is to encourage us to write. A story, a poem, whatever comes to mind. If you are posting an entry on your own blog, please let us know so we can come along to read it and add a few encouraging words. This month the words/prompts are supplied by David M. Gascoigne and can be found here This week's words/prompts are:   1. formidable 2. reticent 3. naturalist 4. hoity-toity 5. ego 6. combination and/or:  1. exude 2. strident 3. copious 4. salient 5. temerity 6. euphemism Here is my story: The sisters were so different, it was hard to believe they were from the same family. Johanna was formidable , strident and exuded confidence in all she did. Marcy was reticent and any attempt at confidence made her appear hoity-toity and drove people awa

Adding a video clip?

Here's how I do it, in Blogger: if you want to add the lyrics: once you have made your selection, instead of clicking on it then clicking on select, you can simply double-click on the video and it appears on your post.

the step by step to adding a Youtube video

Image
here's how I do it in Blogger.  if your system is different, wordpress for example, I have no idea how that works: go to your new post page, select new post and type your title then begin typing your content, then click the cursor under the words to select the place where your video will appear hold your cursor over these three little dots and click on them to get this drop down menu where you click on "insert video" to get another window where you can select  Youtube of course the Youtube window opens and in the search bar type the name and artist of the song you want then click on the search icon from the selections (there will be more than just a couple, scroll through them) double-click on the one you want and it will appear in your post like this, blue click anywhere in the white section of your post and the blue will disappear if you want to add the lyrics repeat the process but this time add the word lyrics to the title in the search bar, then of course click on t

In the newspaper today

"Oprah reveals how she stays stress-free at 67! Step 1: have a billion dollars" yep, that would work for me. I know (well we are told) money can't buy happiness, but peace of mind is a close second along with being able to help out family and friends.
