Words for Wednesday

Image
The original Words for Wednesday was begun by Delores and eventually taken over by a moveable feast of participants when Delores had computer troubles. Sadly, Delores has now closed her blog forever due to other problems. The aim of the words is to encourage us to write. A story, a poem, whatever comes to mind. If you are posting an entry on your own blog, please let us know so we can come along to read it and add a few encouraging words. This month the words/prompts are supplied by River (that's me) and can be found here This week's words/prompts are: 1. instruction 2. construction 3. obstruction 4. fuel 5. compassion 6. presentation and/or: 1. depression 2. craziness 3. seemed 4. house 5. fountain 6. chariot use either list or both, or mix and match, just have fun. My own offering will be on this blog on Friday

Sunday Selections # 577

Long ago, Kim of Frog ponds Rock, (who no longer blogs), dreamed up a meme called Sunday Selections.  A place where those who were willing could put up photos they wanted to share, new, old, good, bad or indifferent, any photos you please.  Nothing rude or vulgar though. And we don't mind at all if overseas bloggers care to join us. The meme is now continued by Elephant's Child and I occasionally join in as do a few others.   Andrew is one.  Messymimi is another. Drop in to them and have a look.  Elephant's Child may still be on a break. We'll begin today with photos that loaded in the wrong order: a statue I spotted through a garden gate and three views of a totem pole  side two and the top of it, this is standing guard by someone's entrance gate this is the other side of the top section look at what I found inside my celery! slime! I threw those bits out, washed the rest and after tasting, threw out the whole bunch. the base of a bunch of celery looks like a f

in our newspaper

I read that one of our politicians, (I don't remember his name) is retiring from politics with an annual pension of $270,000  That's right.  Two hundred and seventy thousand smackeroos every single year for the rest of his life! Do I sound jealous?  you betcha.  Well sort of.  I wouldn't like to have a politicians job, with all the infighting, backlash from the public and never having a moment's peace.  But why the humungous pensions? Why can't they retire on the same age pension rates the rest of us retired minions have to live on?

Elephant's Child is currently taking a break, so I won't link to her.   let's begin: I met a magpie wandering around in my garden the caribbean lily bulbs I rescued are growing, not all of them, but three of the original five have survived bird's eye view. Another three I found thrown away in a yard near mine ( I gave them to a neighbour who must have tossed them), also got planted just last weekend and one of them is showing green shoots already, after I expected them

This man made island is in the lake where turtles also live time for a morning swim I think this is our Wollemi Pine, they are quite rare and thi
