Wednesday's Words on a Friday

Image
The original Words for Wednesday was begun by Delores and eventually taken over by a moveable feast of participants when Delores had computer troubles. Sadly, Delores has now closed her blog forever due to other problems. The aim of the words is to encourage us to write. A story, a poem, whatever comes to mind. If you are posting an entry on your own blog, please let us know so we can come along to read it and add a few encouraging words. This month the words/prompts are supplied by David M. Gascoigne and can be found here This week's words/prompts are:  1. damn 2. campaign 3. missile 4. vital 5. assure  and/or:  1. practitioner 2. movement 3. futile 4. eternal 5. interpret Also including Charlotte's colour of the month, red-orange Here is my story; a further chapter in Tom's Story: Dr Bruce Jones fretted and scowled and he paced the room and kicked at furniture. “ Damn them all to eternal hell,” he muttered. His long-term campaign to have Stephanie Hammer meekly sig

I killed baby olive trees! On purpose!

Many years ago, while I was between jobs, (the factory had moved its operation overseas where they could manufacture shoes cheaper and so make more profit for themselves), I wore out my sneakers dropping off applications and resumes, even applying for volunteer work at libraries, thrift shops and meals-on-wheels. Nobody wanted me. I eventually came across a tiny office with a sign, “Conservation Australia” with a notice that volunteers were wanted. In I went. The information seemed exciting, going around the country in groups helping out farmers etc. Then I spoke to a woman who said only the younger people did that and if I signed up I would join an older group, called the “Green Reserve” who only did day trips once or twice a week. I decided anything was better than nothing and signed up. I was told the group meets outside the office at 8am and the van takes them where they need to go. Well, I missed the first day because the bus was late! On the second day, I was there on time,

Food for thought?

I texted "no-one" something I'd heard on TV: Tea = Leaf soup. She texted back: Coffee = Bean soup.

Sunday Seletions #688

Long ago, Kim of Frog ponds Rock, (who no longer blogs), dreamed up a meme called Sunday Selections.  A place where those who were willing could put up photos they wanted to share, new, old, good, bad or indifferent, any photos you please.  Nothing rude or vulgar though. And we don't mind at all if other bloggers care to join us. The meme is now continued by Elephant's Child and I join in as do a few others. Andrew is one.  Messymimi is another. Drop in to their blogs and have a look. Wisewebwoman has also been joining us occasionally. beginning with "old faithful" my much loved, now dead, washing machine with the newer tumble dryer stacked on top. an original Asko, Made in Sweden, guaranteed for 25 years. She lived to be 27 and survived five house moves. The crack and missing section (the black hole) in that panel is from being dropped a few feet off the back of the trailer during her final move. At the local laundromat, thankfully within easy walking distance,

There are no pictures of the twins today, the whole family has been unwell with some version of the flu. 😢 From R and V: Elsey National Park, in the Northern Territory about 100Km south of Katherine there is a thermal pool there doesn't that look inviting? you all remember me bragging about my faithful old washing machine?

still working like new after 27 years?  sadly, I can brag no more.  she is kaput 😢 loaded the clothes this morning, added the soap powder and turned the dial.  water rushed in and the cycle is ticking away, but the drum isn't turning so nothing is getting washed. it has a child proof lock so I can't even open it until the cycle is completed, then I'll have to drag out sopping wet clothes and haul them to the laundromat at the shopping centre. But there is WORSE news! 😧 Message from S, mother of the twins and three older boys, HER machine is also broken down 😢😢
