Sunday Selections # 561

Image
Long ago, Kim of Frog ponds Rock, (who no longer blogs), dreamed up a meme called Sunday Selections.  A place where those who were willing could put up photos they wanted to share, new, old, good, bad or indifferent, any photos you please.  Nothing rude or vulgar though. And we don't mind at all if overseas bloggers care to join us. The meme is now continued by Elephant's Child and I occasionally join in as do a few others. Andrew is one.  Messymimi is another. Drop in to Elephant's Child and have a look. a few more of the houses under construction next door now have windows the blue tinge is because I took the photos through the fencing which is covered in blue "shadecloth" which is not easily seen through, probably to discourage potential thieves from knicking any materials laying around. here on the left, you can see the blue fence covering, I managed to sneak a shot through this opening while the site watchman wasn't looking. Wednesday's Words on a Friday

The original Words for Wednesday was begun by Delores and eventually taken over by a moveable feast of participants when Delores had computer troubles. Sadly, Delores has now closed her blog forever due to other problems. The aim of the words is to encourage us to write. A story, a poem, whatever comes to mind. If you are posting an entry on your own blog, please let us know so we can come along to read it and add a few encouraging words. This month the words/prompts are supplied by Margaret Adamson and Sue Fulcher and can be found here This week's words/prompts are:  1. memorialise  2. terpsichorean  3. flotation  4. gusto  5. obnoxious  6. phlegmatic  and/or:  1. philately  2. swaddle  3. voice  4. voluptuous  5. yolk  6. appraise. Here is my story: Nanna settled her voluptuous curves into a comfortable chair and looked around to appraise the new kitchen wall colours. “Very nice dear,” she said to Phyllis, “what made you choose this shade?” “Well I wanted yellow, but not egg-

update: the roses have come to an untimely end

so sad,  the photo was taken a week or two ago, the blooms should have lasted at least another month,  here it is again: so very pretty and this is what I saw when I walked past yesterday afternoon 😢 barely a bloom left, you may see a few right on the roadside edge near the tip of the shadow I suspect they were chain-sawed off by the same young men who bought the house on the left there, ripped out the yard of greenery and replaced it with pavers. They are currently ripping out the back garden. on a brighter note, a yard closer to home has several mounds of lovely white pansies 😀

Here is my story: Andrew and Trevor had been best mates since they both arrived at the orphanage on the same day fifty-five years ago. Aged only five, they had both been orphaned, Trevor when his parents died in a house fire, Andrew when his parents died when the bus they were on ran off the road and slid down a cliff.  Sticking together through thick and thin, life had not been easy. The orphanage had

The blocks are large, so thirteen isn't such a huge number, although I do wonder how much yard space each will have this is what they will look like, not sure if they will be two or three stories, but I see balconies and slightly different designs for each one. Better than the "Lego Block" houses I showed a few weeks ago at least. notice
