Musical Monday #5

Image
I was introduced to Musical Monday by Delores who copied the meme from another site. I think it's a fun way to show off some of the music I like. All of the clips are found at you tube, so I won't bother putting up credit for any of the artists. Today's clip is another feel good happy song, by Alan Jackson. Little Bitty. and the lyrics.  One of my favourites, the song and the singer.

Sunday Selections # 169

Image
Welcome back to Sunday Selections! This once-a- week-meme was originally begun by Kim of Frog Ponds Rock, as a way to showcase some of the many photos we all take, but don't get around to showing on our blogs. The rules are very simple:- 1. post photos of your choice, old or new, under the Sunday Selections title 2. link back to me, River , somewhere in your post 3. leave me a comment so that I know you've joined in and can come over and see what you've posted. 4. hop on over to The Elephant’s Child to see more of her wonderful photos. Kath and Andrew often join in as well, although Kath has been quite busy lately and unable to join us. There are several other participants now though: Jackie K at WorkingThrough It Gillie at Random Thoughts From Abroad I usually go with a theme for my Sunday Selections and this week I have some photos I took of the kite festival at Semaphore Beach. The festival goes over three days and I chose day

Angel overload

Image
I brought Angel home on April 6th. He was a little afraid at first and hid behind the fridge for several hours, but once he came out and ate dinner, he was much more confident. The next day, he took over the place. I had to remove everything from the top of this chest-height tallboy, because this tiny, tiny, kitten..... was jumping up onto this chair and then onto the tallboy. Where he would sniff around and knock things off. By the end of the first week, I'd started wearing these when playing with him and wishing they were elbow length! He did learn quite quickly to back off and sit down when I held my hand up, palm out in front of his face and said "no" quite firmly.  Just like training a puppy. The same tone guaranteed to stop a toddler in his tracks. Comes in handy now when I'm eating dinner and he jumps up to the table. These next few photos have been taken on different days since Angel has been here. that's my pyjama pants he is sleep

Wednesday's Words on a Friday

On Wednesdays , Delores, from Under The Porch Light, has a meme which she calls “Words for Wednesday”. She puts up a selection of six words which we then use in a short story, or a poem. I’m hopeless at poetry so I always do a story. It’s a fun challenge…why not join in? This week's words are: 1. glanced 2. merrily 3. purse 4. indifferent 5. brat 6. blind Here is my story: Indifferent to the darkening clouds hovering low, blind to the crowds surging along the storefronts, Amelia stepped merrily from the cab.  Holding her purse in one hand, she held out her other hand to Quinto, her five year old son, thankful that today, for once, he wasn't being a brat about wearing a suit. In fact he was quite proud to be dressed "like a man, like Zach", he'd said this morning as Amelia tied his tie for him.  Stepping into the softly lit registry office, Amelia and Quinto both glanced towards the makeshift altar where Zach was

here's an ongoing expense I'd forgotten about

Kitty Litter. Angel is an inside cat, so I purchased a litter tray and a bag of litter. The range to choose from is quite extensive and choosing was hard. In the end I chose a bag of clay pellets and decided to try the others and see which performed best. The clay pellets worked well , absorbing moisture and odour, but like any litter it's messy and I need to get one of those closed in trays to contain it. As soon as the budget allows. Next I tried a softwood litter, which I gave up on pretty quickly. A clumping type and environmentally friendly, (also claims to be flushable, which I didn't try), but not as absorbent as I would have liked. Angel always came out of the tray with damp paws and I spent a lot of time wiping up paw prints with damp paper towel and disinfectant. AND, the tiny shreds of softwood stuck to his feet and tail so got tracked all over the flat. I still have half a bag of it and I'll empty it into the garden as mulch. My current choice is Ca

Musical Monday

Image
Musical Monday I was introduced to Musical Monday by Delores ; the meme is the brainchild of Mildred Ratched, who wishes to make Mondays a more Musical place to be. The rules of MUSICAL MONDAY are easy: 1. Post a song of your choice under the MUSICAL MONDAY title. 2. If the song you post is not an original song, make sure credit is given to the artist.   (*) 3. Write something about your song choice. It doesn't have to be long. Just a short written glimpse inside your head to accompany your musical one will suffice. 3. Post a link back to MILDRED RATCHED somewhere in your post so others can find their way there. 4. Post a comment here indicating that you're participating so Mildred and others can visit you and listen to our selection. 5. Have fun and help make Monday a Musical place to be! (*)   I’ll be finding my postings on you tube, so will simply credit that site since there are often so many versions of everything and I wouldn’t want to acci
