Wednesday's Words on a Friday

Image
The original Words for Wednesday was begun by Delores and eventually taken over by a moveable feast of participants when Delores had computer troubles. Sadly, Delores has now closed her blog forever due to other problems. The aim of the words is to encourage us to write. A story, a poem, whatever comes to mind. If you are posting an entry on your own blog, please let us know so we can come along to read it and add a few encouraging words. This month the words/prompts are supplied by David M. Gascoigne and can be found here This week's words/prompts are:  1.villain  2. visit  3.bone  4.stork  5.memory  and/or:  1.imprinted  2.human  3.kink  4.spring  5.faithful Also including Charlotte's colour of the month: pretty flower pink Here is my story: Incurable disease is a villain most foul, taking from us life and limb, even bone in some cases. Though hope springs eternal and I am faithful to hope, still some tragedy or other ...

Sort of a Musical Monday

Andrew has recently shown a few older Australian television advertisements which were fun to watch, so I thought I would add one of my old favourites: Bananana-na na na, make those bodies sing and a later version showing the kids now grown I love both versions and I love bananas too, as long as they are the in season variety not the awful cold storage ones with no flavour. I hope both videos play.

Sunday Selections # 741

Long ago, Kim of Frog Ponds Rock, (who no longer blogs), dreamed up a meme called Sunday Selections.  A place where those who were willing could put up photos they wanted to share, new, old, good, bad or indifferent, any photos you please.  Nothing rude or vulgar though. And we don't mind at all if other bloggers care to join us. The meme is now continued by Elephant's Child and I join in as do a few others. Andrew is one.  Messymimi is another. Drop in to their blogs and have a look. Wisewebwoman has also been joining us more often. beginning today with the crossing of Grange Road/Manton Street, over the underpass of South Road at Hindmarsh and West Hindmarsh. I had  reason to go out there recently and stared again at the design: taken from the Manton Street side looking at the section of fence protecting people from jumping or falling into the South side of the underpass and the same design on the North side, so ugly, so uninspired, yes? Every time I see ...

well that's a relief

I had the ultrasound today and the very nice tech person showed me my gallbladder. "It's that big black hole, if there were stones they would show as bright areas"  There weren't any. None. Zero. Zip,zilch, nada. Which is good.  Good for the gallbladder, but probably less so for the liver.  I didn't ask if the liver looked okay and I probably should have, but the doctor will tell me the full story on the results next time I see her. Probably Monday.  At least I don't have surgery looming in the near future.

Several of my people (family and friends), have had medical problems. Some just one single thing gone wrong, others suffering the plight of three or four things all at once.  Learning to juggle appointments, do...

So I did this thing....

...going back to the vampire doctor for another blood draw where they take a goodly amount of blood, test it and send the results to the medical clinic where they tell me my numbers are too high and I have a fatty liver, so I did the   cutting back on sugars and fats, generally eating smaller portions and losing twelve kilograms (13 now) and hoping the numbers are better.  WELL!! Disappointingly the numbers are not better, not even the same, but worse! WORSE!! I was shocked. I gave up ice cream and chocolate for nothing?? The doctor did tell me something I never knew, one possible reason for all those high numbers not going down is gallstones . She said it's often gallstones that keep the cholesterol higher than it should be in spite of taking the required medication that is supposed to lower it. Apparently gallstones are little lumps of solidified cholesterol.  Have I ever had an ultrasound? Yes of course, but that was years ago when a mammogram technician saw so...

This was also on my opening news page when I first turned on my laptop one day last week. A nicely curved fence leading into a driveway Autumn leaves against the blue sky Jade bushes are budding for the autumn flush of pink star flowers a geranium that can't decide if it is pink or purple new growth on a rose bush while the existi...

Beginning today with the Haighs #1 Chocolate van: The company was celebrating a birthday and I heard later on the TV news they were giving out free chocolates, but not while I was there...😢 Oh well, I'm quite fat enough still, I don't need more chocolate. Love the carriage lamps, and the leather seat. here's the back of the van, 110 years! a little further along Rundle Mall is this Sushi Train, maybe it's new or maybe I just n...
