Sunday Selections #757

Long ago, Kim of Frog Ponds Rock, (who no longer blogs), dreamed up a meme called Sunday Selections.

A place where those who were willing could put up photos they wanted to share, new, old, good, bad or indifferent, any photos you please.

Nothing rude or vulgar though.

And we don't mind at all if other bloggers care to join us.

The meme is now continued by Elephant's Child and I join in as do a few others. Andrew is one.  Messymimi is another. Drop in to their blogs and have a look.

Wisewebwoman has also been joining us occasionally.

Beginning today with a few photos of my TV screen, on the news: In the far north, the APY Lands (I think, it was a while ago) the indigenous people held their own Grand Final football match:

in the heat and the red dust much fun was had

spectators as well as players

it was lovely to see, quite a change from the city matches with over-crowded stands and all the cheering and booing that goes on.

on another TV show:

she really killed that target!

in a house for sale on a real estate site, a deep purple couch/sofa/settee, which fits in with Charlotte's colour of the month, Beauty Berry Purple. How often do you see a purple leather couch?

it's wooly caterpillar season again, keep an eye on your veggie patches.

street trees are blossoming all over town too, causing me a little grief but not as much as usual, since I'm staying inside a lot, until the jasmine finishes blooming

here's some pretty clouds from a while back

someone has put a solar powered lamp in the front yard by the sign showing the layout of the flats and parking areas, a good idea for anyone coming to visit after dark

I think it has been a long while..

since this car had a trip out of its garage

Clivias are blooming again, I took this photo in the city last Friday

in Hutt Street where I also saw this pretty blue table and benches, the blue is nicer in real life,

these orange chairs and red table,

and this Korean restaurant that I haven't seen before

don't those pictures look delicious?

here is a rainbow taken by "no-one"

and last Thursday's sunset, also by "no-one"

  1. A purple couch could pose a few problems with accessories. It's such a strong colour, but I like it!

    1. jabblog; I think it depends on the type and colour of accessories, red would clash, but black or tropical pinks and blues would be fine. Brown? No way!

  2. My sister had purple carpet in her bedroom. We got to choose when our parents built the house. It's not a color for everyone. Then again, I chose forest green, which she did not like. That's a nice sunset by No-One. I'd have to eat a lot to get my $29 worth, but I'm sure I could do it!

    1. Val; for $29 I wouldn't eat much, but it would be worth it to not have to cook and clean up. I like forest green and purple, but as carpets I think it would be too much, unless it was a smaller room with not much furniture like a formal dining room. In there a polished table and silver accessories would look good.

  3. Yet another delightful selection. I am not sure about the very purple couch but in the right room it could look great. No=one took some great photos - as she so often does.

    1. Elephant's Child; thank you. "no-one" has an excellent camera eye. I love the purple couch, but know it would not look good in my tiny home with my mis-matched everything else.

    1. John Going Gently; nice to see you here. I love it too and if I had a bigger place I might consider such a colour.

  5. Nice sofa! The caterpillar is beautiful! Lovely series of photos!

    1. Linda's Relaxing Lair; it is a nice couch. The caterpillars look nice, but even just two can decimate a garden overnight! They are voracious eaters.

    1. Mike; I thought you might like it. If I had the space and $$ for accessories I'd buy that too.

  7. There's not a phone in sight at the footy match.
The sky is so blue in the cloud photo.
I hope solar powered outdoor lights have come on since their early days. They wouldn't last the night and the lamps themselves did not last for very long either.
The blue setting looks nice, but the orange chairs with a form of backrest would suit me better.
    The sunset photo is great.

    1. Andrew; no phones is as it should be, you're there to watch the footy. I haven't watched the solar light to see how long it lasts, but I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't stay on more than a couple of hours. They're not all that effective, a battery powered lamp might be better.
I like a backrest on a chair too these days, we oldies need extra support. I don't like the style of chairs though. I put those in for Iris who will visit later, she loves things like that.
"no-one" has a good camera eye.

  8. There is nothing else that compares to the Aboriginals playing football in the bulldust, R. Always good to see it and them.
The car sure does need some tender loving care, well on the outside.
The trees would look a picture but of course problems for some especially hayfever.
The rainbow is good, always a joy to see one and I haven't seen one for ages down here.
The Clivias are such a vibrant flower, and we don't see many of them down here either.

    1. Margaret D; It is a joy to see them play, all the smiles and no drunken spectator brawls, it's just good clean fun. That car needs a good wash for sure. Most of the blossoms are blown off the trees by now, we've had some really gusty breezes. I like the clivias.

  9. Must´ve been lovely to see, the game. I had both, bad and sweet interactions with your indigenous people.
Huhhhh. Ingo took me to a shooting place with his company once. Everybody had to stop because I needed silence. I managed to not hit the ceiling...
Eww, leather... Your legs always glued to in summer... cute caterpillar. Sorry you can not enjoy blooming season.
That car... Our neighbour has the best spot and doesn´t drive. Stood there when we left for Perth, by now plants are surrounding it. Parking space is a problem here...
Oh, beautiful chairs!!! ... and hungry now. To wishes and colours!

    1. Iris; I didn't see more than what the TV news showed, but I did see they were all having fun. I remember "no-one" once went to a shooting range with her friend, they tried out several different types of guns to see which was the most comfortable and then she shot her target "dead" too, right in the chest with all bullets. I think it was something run by the police that day.
In summer I put a blanket or sheet on the leather, winter too, and people say why buy leather if you just cover it? But I only cover where I'm going to sit, and it is much easier to wipe spills off leather than to try and wash a fabric sofa. My recliner chairs are leather.
I knew you would love the orange chairs.

    2. You sure have a point with the cleaning! Yes, I love everything 70´s :-) I mean, I was born in that time, those were happy times.

    1. messymimi; I love the couch and wish I had space for one and maybe I would buy purple if it was available.

  11. Black and purple ... suddenly I'm reminded of a lollipop from my childhood. The very best liquorice one, only to be had at a baker far away. Thanks for using my colour, and for this memory.
I love your photos - all of them - the restaurant ones make me hungry, the fotball ones make me long for sunshine ... longing pictures all of them.

    1. Charlotte; I don't remember lollipops from my childhood, we had sweets, but mostly soft ones to chew, or ice cream cones in summer. We could buy licorice in squares that made our tongues turn black, they were nice.

  12. That purple couch would look stunning in a lemon yellow surrounding with forest green touches.
    Lovely shots from no one.

    1. Wisewebwoman; it would, but the lemon yellow would have to be soft not bright and perhaps a bit of tropical melon in the forest green? "n-one" is good with a camera.

  13. As we descend into Autumn, you ascend to Spring. Lucky you. :o) I've only tired Korean food once or twice. I'd like to go to South Korea actually - maybe one day...

    1. Plasman; somehow I thought you had been there, you have been to so many places. I'd like to try the food one day. Spring is lovely but the blossoms and jasmine are causing me some grief.
