Wednesdays Words on a Friday

Image
The original Words for Wednesday was begun by Delores and eventually taken over by a moveable feast of participants when Delores had computer troubles. Sadly, Delores has now closed her blog forever due to other problems.

The aim of the words is to encourage us to write. A story, a poem, whatever comes to mind.
If you are posting an entry on your own blog, please let us know so we can come along and read it.
This month the prompts are supplied by Mark Koopmans and can be found here.

This week's words are:
1. splurge
2. bonking
3. veterans
4. windows
5. lasagna
6. inconceivable!

and/or:

1. ruling
2. extinguished
3. Ebonics
4. dresser
5. Marley
6. yikes

Here is my story:

Marley burst through the door of their fledgling movie company so fast it banged all the way back and the knob left a dent in the wall. Stanley leaned back in his chair, eyes wide. “What’s up now Marl?” ‘This script,” said Marley. “There’s no bonking in it. How can you make a movie with no bonking? It’s inconceivable! Al…

Some time ago, I ordered a couple of hand made teatowels from Joanne, she shipped them on the 14th of January and they arrived today, January 30th.

16 days. That's a pretty good delivery time.

Peacock Blue:

the photo doesn't do them justice, this is one of my favourite colours, almost too pretty to use, but of course I will use them.
a pretty business card was included
with Joanne hard at work on the back of it.

Sunday Selections

Image
Long, long ago, in days of yore...Kim of Frog ponds Rock, (who no longer blogs), dreamed up a meme called Sunday Selections.
A place where those who were willing could put up photos they wanted to share, new, old, good, bad or indifferent, any photos you please.
Nothing rude or vulgar though.

The meme is now continued by Elephant's Child and I occasionally join in as do a few others. Drop in to Elephant's Child and have a look.

I didn't have any photos planned for today, then I saw this feel-good article in today's paper:

it's a little hard to see clearly, but those are Australian flags hanging from the table, and Australian goods on the table.
this is the story. Enlarging should enable you to read it easily.
also in today's paper, this made me laugh,
while this made me sad. How can they withhold funds that were donated expressly for the relief of those in desperate need? I personally donated to each of these (as well as to a couple of wildlife rescue organisations) …

Here is my story:

Judy, with headphones on and schoolbag swinging, entered through the back door on her skates and proceeded to zoom through the long hallway, completely oblivious to the presence of her Grandparents sitting in the kitchen.
Yelling for Stuart to "wake up, I've brought your homework," she tossed …

We all "know" that Heaven is way up high and Hell is way down under

Right?

Australia is commonly known as The Land Downunder and we inhabitants know how "hellishly" hot our summers can be, even our winters are warmish.

Recently we've had the uncontrollable furnace-worthy fires (of hell) too.

So what's going on?

Is "Lucy" growing bolder and staking his claim on this small part of God's green Earth?

Discuss...

This tribute to Freddie Mercury is lovely to watch

I saw this a few minutes ago at double-half or one ten without ham and just had to share it with all the other Queen fans out there

Lucifer stomped around the receiving room’s hellfire, seething. His diatribe earlier had done nothing to improve his mood and now he was out of sorts. Usually he loved scaring the pants off the wishy-washy new inmates, who had no idea why they were there instead o…
