Sunday Selections - better late than never, right?

I spotted these things while out walking and had to run home for the camera, to get photos before they got washed away by rain.
Of course I didn't really run, people might be thinking there's an earthquake happening.

So here's what I saw:

a chalk message for everyone

Happy

Easter

people are putting teddies on fences and in windows to say thank you to all the front line workers helping with battling the virus. Nurses, doctors, police and volunteers

and signs like this one. I saw a solid wood gate with a huge chalk message, "Don't worry, be happy", but couldn't remember what street I was on once I'd gone home for the camera.

I also saw this wagon wheel used as decoration. I remember long ago many gardens had these, but this is the only one I've seen in yonks.

When I got home again,

I pulled my Beanie Baby named Leo off the top shelf

and put him in the window. He was a birthday gift from my brother many years ago and is actually red, but the camera made him more orange. I never get true colours in the red and blue ranges.

here he is from the outside, ignore the dust and cobwebs which I am not going to clean away.  I don't think Leo is easily seen from the street, but I dare not put him out in the weather.

  1. What a happy post. Thank you.
I 'think' that the teddy bears in windows are for children rather than a thank you to the front line workers. They are part of a 'teddy bear hunt' where children walking with their parents can see how many they can see.
Mind you, I hope the front line workers also enjoy them, and I love the thank you messages.

    1. Elephant's Child; I wasn't sure exactly what the teddies were for, but I heard someone say they are a thank you. I like them being a teddy bear hunt for children, like the book, "We're Going on a Bear Hunt".

  2. A nice cheery post. My sister put her bear on her letter box so that it could be seen as she has a high front fence. Ah yes, the old wagon wheel in the garden. I guess the supply ran out.

    1. Andrew; I'm guessing the wagon wheels mostly rotted away and weren't replaced.
If I put my bear out someone around here would nick him as soon as I turned my back, or he'd get rained on and be ruined.

    Happy Easter to you.

    1. Margaret D; Happy Easter to you too. It's nice seeing teddies everywhere, sadly, many were in windows so I couldn't take photos.

  5. Love the teddies as either a thank you or for children to count. Either way is so thoughtful during these times. Have the best Easter possible.

    1. Arkansas Patti; my Easters are always quiet and yesterday was no exception. Even the surrounding flats are all quiet now, with everyone staying in.

  10. Somebody put a lot of thought into that Easter artwork. Very cool. I'm glad you kept Leo inside! I fear he would have come to a bad end if you put him out. It's nice to share him, but you don't have to give him away!

  11. Teddies always bring a smile to our faces...well, to mine, anyway.

There are many good people out there, with kind, thoughtful hearts. :)

    Take care, River.

  12. Hahaha, I know that feeling when you forgot the cam at home and make a dash!
Thank you for doing so and sharing it here!.
Not a Teddy in sight and our condo does not see the street, so Mielebaer stays put. But he says hi to yours :-)
    Cold and windy here.

  13. How sweet! I tried to put a bear in my window, but we have my son's kitten while on quarantine and she bats him off the ledge every time. I'm also not willing to put one outside. All I have left are the ones my dad or grandma sewed for me. The dog took out the rest during her puppy years. I could try to draw one, but that could be scary.

I should start taking my camera on walks. There are so many beautiful things in our world we could pause and appreciate.
