Words for Wednesday

Image
The original Words for Wednesday was begun by Delores and eventually taken over by a moveable feast of participants when Delores had computer troubles. Sadly, Delores has now closed her blog forever due to other problems. The aim of the words is to encourage us to write. A story, a poem, whatever comes to mind. If you are posting an entry on your own blog, please let us know so we can come along to read it and add a few encouraging words. This month the words/prompts are supplied by ME and can be found right here This week's words/prompts are: 1. surprise 2. winked 3. firepit 4. gnomes 5. quilt 6. sunroom and/or: 1. lonesome 2. shirt 3. beach 4. volcano 5. train 6. moat use either list or both, or mix and match, just have fun.

Sunday Selections #500

Image
500!! Wow. Long, long ago, in days of yore...Kim of Frog ponds Rock, (who no longer blogs), dreamed up a meme called Sunday Selections.  A place where those who were willing could put up photos they wanted to share, new, old, good, bad or indifferent, any photos you please.  Nothing rude or vulgar though. The meme is now continued by Elephant's Child and I occasionally join in as do a few others. Drop in to Elephant's Child and have a look. A random selection today: A new addition to the garden is this Bee Hotel, not a hive, just a resting place for bees who will soon be buzzing in my bright yellow and orange flowers. I hope. here is a closer look and from the other side I'm very very pleased to see my "black" pelargonium has survived, I thought it had died. Next autumn I will take cuttings and grow them in pots. Lola is determined to be as close to me as she can, when I sit back down she will crawl into the tiny gap between the back of the chair and my huge bu...

This month the words/prompts are supplied by ME and can be found right here This week's words/prompts are: 1. The two Colins 2. rambunctious 3. purple tie 4. apple pie Here is my story: Since the day was rainy and grey, Grandma Joan had given Heather and her brother Colin permission to play in the attic, where they found an old trunk filled to the brim with clothes and accessories. They had a fabulous time dressing up and pretending to be someone they weren’t. Heather had spent quite a lot of time wearing an emerald green ballgown, (and tripping...

Mary Elizabeth Grainger M.E.G. aka Meg I noticed these little redheaded "Madeline" dolls on a blog I discovered a few months ago, l'astronave, link is here . Fresca has quite a few of these dolls, she calls them Girlettes with Penny Cooper as the ring leader and they have an adventure now and again. Very soon I wanted one too, so I went to ebay and found this one in her little Equestrian outfit, with her first prize ribbon, and she arrived on Tuesday. I was so excited! here she is without her hat so you can see the pretty red hair. here is Meg making friends with the boys, Cousin Hugo, in the blue and yellow hoodie, Harvey Banana in the striped hoodie, little Hector and Leo the Beanie Baby already holding hands with Little Hector settling in to watch TV while I get dinner ready She's quite at home already :) Of course Meg needs more clothes, so I have ordered a couple of extra outfits, but I think I'm going to have to get out my needles and threads to make more.

I hope you enjoy my selections for today: I washed the blue cover blanket I keep on my bed and put this old chicken one on instead, just for the day. Lola wasn't impressed and wouldn't get on the bed, spending the whole day on the arm of my chair, waiting for me to sit down and watch tv so she could sleep between my feet. I bought a scented candle for my bedroom, the label read "Icecream" so I thought it would smell delicious and it does. this is the candle reflection lighting up the gilt in the print on the opposite wall. My plum t...

Daddy was visiting today and here was my chance to show him just how well I had been doing in school. I skidded to a stop in the kitchen and there he was, the same stern, forbidding face I remembered. Knowing he didn't like to be ...

You there Phyl?" Phyllis turned on her stolen maglite, almost blinding Bryce Johnson who hissed "shut this thing off" as he quickly grabbed the torch from her. "I can't be seen here, I need you to do me a favour."  He leaned in to ...

Today I'm going to show you the place I love best, keep in mind these were NOT taken with my new camera. These are all the beach between Semaphore and Largs Bay jetties. I started at Semaphore, walked to largs Bay, then took these photos on the way back. The "black and white" ones were taken in colour, but there were clouds around, a storm was brewing, so perhaps they reflected in the water.  Fish and chips before going home, of course.
