Sunday Selections #758
Long ago, Kim of Frog Ponds Rock, (who no longer blogs), dreamed up a meme called Sunday Selections.
A place where those who were willing could put up photos they wanted to share, new, old, good, bad or indifferent, any photos you please.
Nothing rude or vulgar though.
And we don't mind at all if other bloggers care to join us.
The meme is now continued by Elephant's Child and I join in as do a few others. Andrew is one. Messymimi is another. Drop in to their blogs and have a look.
Wisewebwoman has also been joining us occasionally.
Beginning today with a picture I borrowed from Debby:
you know it's going to be a good day when even your coffee is happy to see you.
heart-warming soup on a cold evening, chicken stock with veggies and noodles. Home made of course.
Cookie Bear taking a ride on the dinosaur
Hi-Ho Silver! Away... who remembers that? This is more the Jurassic Park version I guess
he took his little buddy Mr RatHat for a ride. RatHat is a beanie baby and the rat hat can be pulled down to make him a "rat"
I used to keep my lightweight scarves, (big ones with a name I can't remember) hanging on the back of the bedroom door
with assorted clips
to hold them in place
when I wore them, which I admit was very rarely.
Then one day I noticed a few cobwebs, so they all got washed and now live in a drawer all rolled up and tidy.
rose bushes here are putting out new spring growth, this particular one grows to about ten feet and has large deep red blooms with a great fragrance.
new red leaves,
an unexpected yellow hiding almost out of sight
and another unexpected full blown deep pink.
many of our beaches are closed-for-swimming because of the awful algae bloom so one person built a sand dragon to help cheer up visitors to the sands, it even has flashes of "fire" coming from his nostrils. I took this photo from the TV as I watched the news that night.
this is my lint roller, maybe you can see the thin wispy bits sticking out from the top and sides? As well as all the hair on that particular sticky sheet, this is from one pass across the sheet after Lola gets up and I go to make the bed.
this is the number of sheets I used on that day, pretty standard amount for cleaning cat hair off the sheet and pillowcase.
99% cat hair with maybe one or two of my hairs, once I've done that I make the bed,
so that Lola can run across it and make her sleeping hollow on the pillow again.
this is one of the jigsaws I completed in that short cat free interval between Angel and Lola in 2016
and here is another one.
finishing today with one more from "no-one"
bejewelled pear blossom on her pear tree after the rain had stopped, she also has apple trees, nectarines, peaches, plums and cherries.
I roll my scarves up and stand them on end inside a lidless shoe box in the drawer, which makes it easy to find what I'm looking for.
ReplyDeleteKathy G; Mine are too big to stand on end and wouldn't fit in a shoebox for sure. I remembered the name, these are "pashminas"
DeleteI like the puzzles. The dragon puzzle must have been challenging. Too bad Lola's hair can't be used for some sort of craft! She is an endless source. Her footprints on the bed are cute. It's 85 degrees here now, but your soup looks enticing.
ReplyDeleteVal; I have heard of some people spinning their pet's hair but I think it would be too itchy and far too troublesome to even try. There are too many books that need reading. The soup was delicious. We are at 62F today, I'm looking forward to more warmth soon.
DeleteLovely puzzles, beautiful photos and soup is great!
ReplyDeleteLinda's Relaxing Lair; thank you, the soup was great and I took another serve out of the freezer this morning for tonight, after a heavier meat and potatoes dinner last night.
DeleteLots of great colors today!
ReplyDeleteMike; thank you, I do like a lot of colour.
DeleteI love that the coffee is having a wonderful day. That's so funny!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThe Happy Whisk; that is a great picture isn't it? I have another one where the coffee looks surprised.
DeleteYour lightweight scarves are beautiful, hanging in a row so that you can easily choose the colour to match your outfit.
ReplyDeleteMine also, but soon they will be put away until the end of summer next year.
hels; thank you, but I don't "do" outfits. That was the original plan, but it turns out I'm a t-shirt and trackies person all winter. I do have a nice coat that would look good with a big scarf.
DeleteWhat a delight your selections are this week. I'm always glad to see the garden, and all the other lovely and fun things in your life.
ReplyDeletemessymimi; thank you 😃
DeleteI certainly remember Hi Ho Silver, but not the away bit. It was a long time ago.
ReplyDeleteIt's hard to believe it is nine years since Angel disappeared.
Your bed is very neat, or was until Lola made her tracks.
You should start wearing scarves again.
There is plenty happening in gardens here now.
Andrew; I remember watching "Hi Ho Silver" on TV, was that The Lone Ranger?, he'd say thta at the end of the show as they raced off into the distance. After nine years I still think of Angel every day. I like a neat bed, something my mum taught me, made beds and a clean sink with a cleared off table and a clean shiny bathroom makes a house look tidy even if you forget to sweep. I think I'll hold off on wearing the scarves until Lola is no longer with me. Bad enough everything else I own is covered in cat hairs.
DeleteHmmmm... home made chicken soup!!!! Here it was summer! 27C!
ReplyDeleteAnd Cookie!!! Braunschweig-sick? Nah, just thinking a kind hello and riding for fun! Oh, wearing a jacket!!! You sure take care well of him!
His mate Mr RatHat is too cute, too.
Nice scarves.I have but one, for winter, Ingo´s late Grandma made it for me. I sure miss her...
Beautiful roses.
The sand-dragon!!! Wonderful! Reminds me of "The never ending story" - hope that does not go for your beaches, though!
Oh, boy, never knew about cat hair!
Great jigsaws. I made a lot online when I broke my foot...
No-ones garden sounds like... oh-so-beautiful! To a wonderful Sunday!
Iris; my soups are always home made, from two basic recipes, chicken stock with veggies and noodles, beef stock with veggies and pearl barley. Cookie had to wear a jacket, it was very cold in the back porch! Mr RatHat was borrowed from a neighbour. I have winter scarves that I knitted myself, I'll show them next week, and you remember from a few weeks back the crocheted ones "no-one" made for me. One that I made got too long, about 100 inches (254cm) plus tassels, so another 5 inches each end, but is only 3 inches wide.
DeleteThat dragon does resembel the never-ending story one, that was Falcor, the Luck Dragon.
Not all cats shed as much hair as Lola. "no-one's" garden is mostly in big pots with dwarf trees but she gets enough fruit for herself and to share a bit with me. I still have the jigsaws, in their boxes again now.
