Words for Wednesday participants: a message
Our host, Elephant's Child, (Sue) has passed away suddenly and I am not sure if all of you will wish to continue the Words for Wednesday meme.
Those of you who participated by leaving words at her site may choose to leave them here instead, at least until the end of this year. Please let me know.
I don't have email addresses for all participants.
Those of you who put the words on your own site can choose to continue, or not, it is up to you. Please let me know.
This year has only three months left and I would like to know if any or all would like to keep this meme going in 2026.
I am hoping Sunday Selections will continue, but again, the choice is up to those who participate. I know that I will keep going.
**It's possible Sue already has (had) the Wednesday words and has them scheduled to post on the day, so we shall wait and see **
I think Sue (Elephant's Child) had the rest of the year scheduled, there was a post at her blog - https://myjustsostory.blogspot.com/2024/12/where-are-words-for-wednesday-and.html.
ReplyDeleteI would definitely like to continue Words for Wed and would host it and provide the prompts for a month or two. I enjoy the challenge and I hope others would also continue to participate or contribute. But it does seems a bit odd without Sue.
Have a lovely day.
lissa; thank you, I have only just logged on and not visited her blog yet. your offer to host is appreciated, we will wait and see how many would like to continue.
Deletelissa; I have just been to Sue's site and there is nothing there. Your link is for 2024, which only shows who is providing words for the months. October 2025 is set for Sean Jeating, so I will check again tomorrow to see if his words are published. I offered to let him send the words to me to publish if he cares to.
DeleteVery sad about Sue. I hope that some continue with the fun writing exercises. Sending love and huggs 🧡🤍🧡🤍🧡
ReplyDeleteThe Happy Whisk; Thank you. I also hope that some would like to continue, but many participants put their stories on her blog.
DeleteI would be glad to continue, although I will miss Sue terribly. If she has posts ready through the end of the year, I will use those words. If not, it would be a joy to have Lissa, or anyone who has been using the words a while, continue the prompt. It was started by Delores several years ago, and when Delores had to stop hosting, Sue took over. Passing on the baton would honor those who've kept it going so long.
ReplyDeleteYes, if we continue with a new host, I would be glad to do a month, Sue usually gave me August, which would be fine, or any other month if needed.
messymimi; It's nice to hear you would also like to continue, as lissa says, the words have been prescheduled for this month at least and she is happy to be host. i am happy to do a month as well, two if needed.
Deletemessymimi; I just checked and there are no words yet. I did leave a comment with Sean Jeating and let him know he can send the October words to me if he wishes.
DeleteAgreeing with Messymimi, it would be in Elephant's Child's spirit to carry on with the challenge. I'm sure that the three having prepared the prompts for October (Sean Jeating), November (Alex J. Cavanaugh) and December (WiseWebWoman) would happily send their prompts to Lilla for publishing if Elephant's Child have not already presceduled those posts. We'll know in a few days.
ReplyDeleteI too would continue supplying prompts for a month or two.
Elephant's Child is the reason I ever made it this far with my tales about Susan, and if I ever get to publish them, she'll be having a honourable mentioning in the book!
Lilla, sorry read Lissa - stupid eyedrops!
DeleteCharlotte; it's nice to hear so many would like to carry on, I think Sue would like that too. Lissa says the words have been pre-scheduled, so that's a big help.
DeleteCharlotte; oops, no words yet, sorry. Do you have a colour for October?
DeleteYes I have, but I "un-pre-posted" it at the news about EC. It is now live.
DeleteThe words always went up on EC's blog Wednesday at midnight Canberra time, so it's too early to tell yet.
Delete... and now we're past midnight Canberra time - If I can still do my maths. So no, no Words for Wednesday preposted by our dear EC.
DeleteWords are now up, emailed to me by Sean Jeating for this month.
DeleteCertainly I will continue with Sunday Selections. I don't think Sue posted anything last week, so possibly there won't be any further scheduled.
ReplyDeleteAndrew; I will continue with Sunday Selections also, and it seems we have a new host in Lissa for the Words for Wednesday meme.
DeleteRiver: I'm happy to be the host for Words for Wed if needed but we could take turns.
DeleteHave a lovely day.
lissa; I can finish the year as host and see where we go from there. People will need your email address or blog address so they know where to send their words for their allocated months.
DeleteDespite I seldom can join I´d be very happy if this continues. Bet Sue would feel honored, too...
ReplyDeleteAck, life can be unfair.
Iris; life is so often unfair, but we keep going.
DeleteOh R, that is so good of you to offer to keep the words going - even though I don't join in very often I do read most of the stories as I enjoy them. I'm sure Sue would be grateful that someone would carry on both the words and the Sunday Selections.
ReplyDeleteTake care.
Margaret D; Lissa has offered to take over as host but if EC has pre-scheduled the words for this month and maybe next month, then Lissa will take over next year and allocate months to those who wish to participate.
Deletethis makes me sad.... i hope you find a path.... whatever makes you happy
ReplyDeleteArcticFox; we will get something worked out.
DeleteIt would be great to see this wonderful tradition continued. Lately I have been only contributing occasionally due to health issues of my own but I will do my best. Sue was so committed to the WfW and SS and will do our best to honour her tenaciousness.
ReplyDeleteXO
WWW
Wisewebwoman; occasionally is plenty, we are happy to see you whenever you can manage.
DeleteI would like to join but I am so sad to hear about her passing.
ReplyDeleteI have just had an email exchange with Ellen Golla, who is concerned that the blog may be cancelled/erased/ whatever Blogger does when things are defunct.
ReplyDeleteThat would, I think, be a great loss for the many who have participated in sharing these prompts over the years. And I'm pretty sure Sue would spit chips!
I have not had time to "play" the word game for ages. And I can't access Sue's blog beyond comments. I may have a way for it to continue, but need to do more figurin' aht! Anyone who would like to take it on, let me know.
I am so sad and stunned by the loss of Sue. She would want everything to continue.
ReplyDeleteAlex J.Cavanaugh; I agree, so we will continue as long as we can.
