Words for Wednesday

The original Words for Wednesday was begun by Delores and eventually taken over by a moveable feast of participants when Delores had computer troubles. Sadly, Delores has now closed her blog forever due to other problems.

The aim of the words is to encourage us to write. A story, a poem, whatever comes to mind.

If you are posting an entry on your own blog, please let us know so we can come along to read it and add a few encouraging words.

This month the words/prompts are supplied by River and can be found here

This week's words/prompts are:

1.feeling  2.motion  3.unthinkable  4.blowing  5.shopping  6.road trip

Charlotte's colour of the month is beauty berry purple as seen above the blurb here.

My story will appear on this blog next Friday, as always.

  2. I was feeling queasy with the motion of the boat. Surely it was unthinkable that I would vomit. Blowing my nose, I then put my linen handkerchief back in my shopping bag - the one I had bought on last year's road trip to Adelaide. I thought of that woman I had met - the one with the beauty berry purple lipstick. What was her name? Eliza? Elise? I just could not remember. Besides, the speedboat was docking, I had other things to think of but thankfully the sickness had subsided. Elsie! That was her name!

    1. Yorkshire Pudding; you might be surprised by how many times my name is misremembered/mispronounced. Even when reading it off a paper people will say Elise. Good story.

  3. 1995 we planned our first roadtrip throughout Australia. Ingo had visited with his Brother and knew: We need an Esky. So we went shopping. At Woolies.
Didn´t find one, so I said, let´s split and try to find staff to ask.
I found one. He said "Kmart". Now... I didn´t know this. And in school I learned the word "market". So I asked, "what is that?". Him: "Kmart". "WHERE is that?" I was feeling tense already... - "Kmart", unthinkable, no matter how or what I asked I got "Kmart".
Met Ingo and just bellowed, "Kmart!". Ingo, "oh, good, right over there!". Next we bought a traveler car, the first one was a hit and in happy motion we left Sydney straight away to go on a mind-and heart-blowing trip.
Our car was no beauty berry purple but a hiding spinifex green one.

    1. Iris; I am glad you finally found out what he meant by Kmart. He should have been explaining better, telling you it is another store and where to go. Kmart is owned by Coles and Woolies has BigW, same types of things sold there. Sometimes now Woolies has Eskys, but smaller size ones. Great story with the words!

    2. It's not easy when someone won't explain, isn't it. I'm glad you got to go on the trip.

    3. I got my wedding-dress from Kmart 2013 :-) It was $12,99, a white summer dress.
1995 I knew nothing and it was really frustrating! Yes, he should´ve explained - maybe he had a bad day... or was making fun of "another dumb tourist"...

  4. I'm having a go R.
The wind was BLOWING a gale outside, but I still had to go SHOPPING. It was known in my area as a ROAD TRIP as it took some hours to get there, a nuisance really and probably UNTHINKABLE to some people driving with the MOTION of the care and with some people FEELING not so good if being a passenger, but food has to be bought.

    2. It does happen sometimes, you have no choice but to go out in the rain. It's not much fun. Nice way to use the words, too.

  5. I was blowing chunks. The motion of the beauty berry purple vehicle was making me nauseous, but that was not the primary cause of my malaise, it was the impending road trip to a local shopping outlet, where unthinkable things would happen to my bank account that was irking me. I had a bad feeling.

    1. Some people just need to stay away from those shopping outlets.

    2. ArcticFox; I get that same feeling when I think how much things cost that I need to buy. Well done.

  6. Aquí et deixo el meu:
    https://elraconetdesalluna.blogspot.com/2025/09/satisfaccio-efimera.html
