Sunday Selections #768
But first, 😍 thank you to all who left comments on my previous post. My sprained wrist/hand is much less painful now though still a little swollen, all other cuts and scrapes are healing nicely. I have always been a fast healer.
I am surprised I didn't even get a headache and very thankful I didn't smash my teeth when my head bounced off the footpath. People did help me onto the bus, with one woman offering me tissues. I will be back to commenting on Monday.
on with the show now:
in the city one week after the annual Christmas pageant:
The Big Pigeon in Rundle Mall
The most delicious aromas come from this stand, although I was there too early and they hadn't opened for business yet.
David Jones has the same familiar decorations
and the same tree
at the western side of Victoria Square: rows and rows of bikes
which one will I "choose" today?
this one should have people moving out of my way
the second-hand book stall in Central Market goes for quite a long way either side of this little section with another smaller row in front. I may spend some time here next year.
the Central Market Christmas tree
at the twins home, "Is it too late to be good?"
Christmassy petunias beside the footpath where I fell a few weeks after taking this shot.

Looking nice and Christmassy. I like the pigeon and I love popcorn!
ReplyDeletejabblog; thank you. noy many liked the pigeon at first, including me, but I've got used to it and can appreciate the skill and work that went into the making of it.
DeleteTime in a book stall is well-spent. I'm sure the girls have been good! It's great that you're feeling better and on the mend.
ReplyDeleteVal; I wish I had more time for book stalls and of course $$$ too, plus the space for all the extra books I would like to buy and time to read them....
DeleteThe girls have been good.
I'd be with you at that book stall. Love the notice for the twins. It made me laugh out loud. I'm glad you're on the mend, a narrow escape from worse.

Wisewebwoman; we could exclaim together over old favourites found perhaps. i think the notice is great and works for the older brothers as well as the twins. I am glad to be mending too and very thankful it wasn't worse.
Delete"Is it too late to be good?" To be blunt, I fear that it is too late for you Elsie. There's no way God will be letting you in with your past record.
ReplyDeleteYorkshire Pudding; God is old and probably has some memory loss, so my past record will suddenly become impeccable and I shall sail through the Pearly Gates with a wink and a nod from St Peter. 🤣 See you there.
DeleteSee you in Hell my dear. We will have so much more fun there. In my opinion, turning into an angel is overrated. I mean, how on earth do they sleep with those massive wings on their backs?
DeleteI am so glad to hear you are healing nicely and didn't suffer any headaches or other problems. I am happy to hear that you had some kind 😇 people help you.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love ❤️ all your photos.
I love Christmas 🎄 and your photos are beautiful and heartwarming.
Sending you warm hugs 🫂 🤗 and much love.
Linda's Relaxing Lair; thank you. The fast healing doesn't surprise me, all my family are the same, we come from tough Swedish/German stock. I am also grateful for people who helped, I have done the same myself in the past. I love Christmas too, though I don't decorate much, just a small tree or two on a cabinet or shelf.
DeleteSome cool shots! I like the variety.
ReplyDeleteAlex J.Cavanaugh; thank you.
DeleteSo glad you are doing better and that you didn't get a headache. That pigeon is fabulous.
ReplyDeleteDVArtist; thank you, I'm also glad I didn't smash my teeth as I landed. The pigeon caused quite a stir when it was first installed but people are used to it now.
DeleteThe Big Pigeon in Rundle Mall is an elegant looking bird. Do we know what material it was made from?
ReplyDeleteHels; it's metal and looks like stainless steel, that's all I know.
DeleteFirst off: Yippeee to no broken teeth! Oh, gosh, that even luckily didn´t come to my mind when I fell!
ReplyDeleteAnd to quick healing - my arm bugs me still.
Hehe, the pigeon looking for which bike to poop on sure made me laugh - go ahead as long as it´s not my naked back again!
Books... still at yours but I have to mix in others as it makes me angry how people were treated.
Defo too late to be good for Santa! ;-) Love that sign! There is a The Simpson... ah, well, you know...
Beautiful flowers - have a Sunday as good as can be.
Iris; yippee indeed! I didn't even think of them right away, but once I got home and started cleaning up I noticed none were broken. I remember having to mix that book with other stories too, I got angry at the richer people taking advantage of the poor ones and even some poor people taking advantage of those who had less. It's never too late to be good.
DeleteGosh you were fortunate you didn't hurt yourself badly R. It's good you could do a post.
ReplyDeleteI like the pigeon and the Christmas theme. So many bikes, wow guess people park them there for the day or whatever.
Margaret D; thank you. That sort of good luck has been with me my whole life, decades ago as a teenager I crashed my motorbike into a car (at low speed) and didn't get a scratch, not even a headache.
DeleteI love Christmas decorations popping up everywhere. That area is designated as a bike parking spot. Many people ride to work.
I'm just seeing the news about your fall. I'm glad you weren't more badly hurt! Love the pigeon statue and the used-book stall looks interesting, though I need more used books like I need a hole in the head. LOL
ReplyDeleteSteve Reed; thank you, I get lucky that way, but never lucky with lotto. But if I had to choose between life and money, I would choose life everytime. I don't need more used books either but I will visit the book stall anyway. I've grown used to the pigeon statue.
DeleteThe decorations are so cheering, aren't they. It's never too late to be good, I think.
ReplyDeletemessymimi; decorations of any kind are very cheering, the sparklier the better I think. You are right, it's never too late to be good.
DeleteEstic contenta de que no tinguis seqüeles greus i que hagis pogut fer aquest post.
ReplyDeleteBoniques fotografies que ens asseguren que el Nadal ja és aquí.
Saps que diuen de ser bons?... ;-)))
Salut!
sa lluna; thank you, I am glad also and will be much more careful now. I shall walk slowly like an old woman. Children always say they have been good when Christmas is close.
DeleteSo pleased to read you are healing well ...
ReplyDeleteI did enjoy your photographs, it's looking nice and Christmassy.
I put some of my Christmas decorations up earlier!
Take care of yourself.
All the best Jan
Lowcarb team member; thank you. I always heal well and quickly, my whole family does.
DeleteI like seeing Christmas decorations everywhere. I got my mini fake trees out this morning and set them out.
Tudi se vai compondo e preparando para o Natal.
ReplyDeleteEspero que recupere rapidamente.
Abraço de amizade.
Juvenal Nunes
Juvenal Nunes; thank you.
DeleteHi Elsie - that's very good to read ... so pleased you're healing up 'nicely'. Your big Pigeon is a delight to see ... cheers Hilary
ReplyDeleteHilary Melton-Butcher; thank you, I always heal quickly.
DeleteI could not keep away from that book stall until next year. Happy to hear you're healing well. I like that "angry looking" green bike ;)
ReplyDeleteCharlotte; I have to keep away, Christmas has taken quite a lot from my bank account already, but it will bounce back soon enough. That bike looks to be a family-sized model.
DeleteSo glad to read that you're feeling better.
